The Empire Hotel is literally across the street from Lincoln Center, so if you are in NYC for a performance, the location cannot be beat. The Empire Rooftop bar/restaurant was so delightful we went twice, for Sunday brunch and cocktails before the performance. The hotel is showing some wear and could use TLC; for example the wall artwork in the lobby was in disrepair, a lobby TV was held up with 2-by-4s, our bathroom toilet seat was broken, and the room's radiator/AC sounded like a jackhammer. Despite these shortcomings, we would definitely stay again for the price and convenience.

First and foremost, I would stay at this property again; however, that is solely for the location. It is within a 25 minute walk of absolutely everything NYC tourist would like to do. Restaurants, broadways, Times Square, shopping, Central Park, etc,. However, the WiFi is NOT complimentary— they have you pay for everything (including using their towels) with a necessary “hotel fee” daily. Also, the facility maintenance could be much better. It looks like they spent a lot of time tailoring the roof top bar to its patrons and not a lot of effort maintaining the hotels (broken showers, no lighting in rooms, old elevators, and so on). Also, rooms are very small and vary drastically. For example, our had no fridge but had a closet and safe where our other traveling companions had a fridge but no safe or closet. Staff was rude, especially when handling valet parking ($79/ 24 hours). But, for the most part, a decent place for weekend travelers who were just in town for a Broadway show.

Although Chuck Bass was absent, i will definitely come again to stay. My short trip was very pleasant and the location was very convenient. It is always good to see that the staff appears happy, because that means, they enjoy their work and they are well treated by the management. Shut out to Steven in reception: he made the first impression and handled the abundance of the check ins with a smile and a very positive energy.
