Perfect Spot in Historical Philadelphia
My dad and I loved our stay in this amazing piece of history! This house is definitely old, unique, and in a great location if you're looking to walk around the old city. The listing is very true to the experience. The stairs are basically a spiral staircase to a landing. I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you have any mobility issues. I slept on the top floor and my dad slept in the smaller bedroom on the same level as the bathroom. I think it could be awkward to have someone sleep in the largest bedroom which you half to walk through to get to the restroom, but it would just depend on the comfort level of your group. There is a $30/day parking lot right behind the house but we didn't have a car until the day we were leaving town so I can't attest to it. You can technically drive a car down in front of the house but a regular car practically touches both sides of the sidewalk. I would 100% stay here again and was so happy this placed kicked off our trip through Pennsylvania.

Annual Grandparents Getaway with Grandchildren
Such a convenient location for exploring all of Philadelphia’s attractions! 70+ grandparents traveled with 12 & 14-yr-old grandchildren for 5 days. We had separate bedroom spaces for everyone , and the living spaces downstairs worked well during our down times. The kitchen was well-equipped for the meals we ate at the house. The neighborhood felt safe & we walked and rode the Philly Phlash bus everywhere. Thank you Sophie for a nice “home away from home” during our Philadelphia stay.

Location adds to neighborhood feel
My wife and I stayed at Sophie's place for 8 days and her house had the colonial charm as shown in the pictures. We were within walking distance of all the wonderful museums and activity centers that the older core of the historical city center had to offer, including some wonderful restaurants, those within 2-3 blocks. The communication with Sophie was excellent and, since our arrival on the first evening was very late, she offered to pick up a couple of grocery items so we would have a head start on breakfast the first morning - so kind of her to offer that. Access to the unit was easy and we had no car (didn't need one) so that made things easier. We even had a fun adventure riding the city bus (#125) from the Old City to Valley Forge where we really enjoyed a half-day tour of this site, including a 90-minute trolley tour (the last stop for this city bus - at $6.00 per adult). We would recommend Sophie's place, hands down, but would concur with many others who have mentioned that the interior stairways are narrow and steep which might be important for the "more mature" guests.

Quirky old house
The property is a little brick house, a little funky. There is absolutely nothing modern or luxurious about it. It is old, old, old. But we enjoyed it because it was part of our whole experience of seeing the historic side of Philadelphia. Staying in that house, it felt like the Revolutionary War was going to break out any second. The alley on which it is located is very charming. Warning - stairs are steep and narrow!!

Old City Charm
Perfect location! Only “complaint” we had is the lack of comfortable furniture. This house is not for you if you’re hoping to kick back and relax or simply hang out with those in your party. Not a single comfortable spot to sit other than your bed. Also, only access to the single bathroom was through the main bedroom.

Amazing!!!
Everything about this house was amazing! The location, charm, history, convenience made our short visit a memorable one. The house was spotless and the host, Sophie, was wonderful to deal with. The only negative was that we weren't able to stay longer. 100% recommend.

Historic house in an excellent location
We had a wonderful time at this property. The house was old and unique, which we loved. It was perfect for our family of four, with plenty of room for everyone. Located in a very walkable neighborhood, the property is very close to Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross’s house, and other historic sites. The host was very communicative and wonderful to deal with.

Loved it!
Such a cute and historic home to stay in! Easy and quick walk to the historic sites and a close walk to Penn’s Landing, too! The bathroom did not seem as clean as I thought and the tub had mold around it. I know mold stains so I’m not sure if it was that or new mold. Also, I recommend NOT wearing socks on the stairs! Overall, we really enjoyed staying here and would recommend it.

Lovely old apartment
It was really cute. We love unique places and this ticked the boxes. The host was 😊 wonderful about responding and super gracious. We were close enough to what we wanted to do that we didn't need a car or to call a ride share. If you are going to the neighborhood market, take the reusable bags in the kitchen, otherwise you have to pay for one! The Japanese place right by the market is pretty good. Overall a lovely stay on a lovely little side road. I wish we had been warned about two things though. The stairs are extremely steep and we had two great grandparents with us. Luckily there wasn't a problem, but it would have been nice to be aware beforehand. The other is that the bathroom is accessible only through the master bedroom. Cool, just would have been nice to see in the listing.

Historic Old Philadelphia
Sophie's house was fantastic. It was comfortable, located on a historic street, in the best historic part of Philadelphia. It is convenient to everywhere in the city, either walking, public transportation, or Uber. It is only 15 minutes to South Philly & the Stadiums by Uber. Independence Hall & the Historic District is a 10 minute walk. Sonny's fantastic cheese steaks is 2 blocks away. 2nd year we've stayed here, will again!

Weekend Stay in Philly
We had a wonderful weekend get away for an event at Lincoln Field. This location was perfect. A block to the subway and a short walk to Reading Terminal and many other restaurants. We felt very safe walking everywhere. The house is on an adorable cobblestone street. Old City was a very quaint place to stay. I would recommend this location as long as you can climb the stairs to the two top floors to the bedrooms and bathroom.

Delightful!!!
This quaint little apartment in Old City was perfect for our family trip to Philly. We LOVED being in walking distance of all history sights. The alley on which the house was, was adorable with cobblestones and the whole 9 yards! The architecture of the house was very unique and historic. Things were very clean and comfortable and we had all that we needed! Thank you Sophie for a magnificent stay in Philly! We would use you again in a heart beat if we returned. Thank you! PS. Sonny's Philly cheesesteaks on Market St is a quick walk and had the BEST FOOD!

Historic & Charming!
I took my husband here for 2 nights as a surprise for his birthday. We both enjoy older homes and old cities. The location of this home is excellent! The kitchen had everything that we needed and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and neat and we truly enjoyed our stay, we would come back again. I highly recommend this property to anyone who enjoys American history. There are so many restaurants and activities within walking distance that we didn’t even need to use our car, which was conveniently parked right behind the house in a parking lot that cost $30 for 24 hours, which isn’t bad in the city! We could actually see our car from the bathroom window, that is how close the lot is.
