Luxurious country retreat
Beautiful decor, lovely views and a restful stay. Stunning grounds to walk around. The cottage was so beautifully decorated. Breakfast items were mentioned in the description but I would advise that you bring your own. We found a half used packet of weetbix, 250ml milk, butter and jams. The place was so toasty warm. We paid $15 extra per night for firewood.

Warm & embracing.
The School House and the broader Waterloo Station is really an unbelievable accomodation offering. A collection of important historic buildings brought back to life with an authentic vision and an unbridled execution. The School House was compact, warm & embracing, we felt completely at home. Deb was a most attentive and gracious host. We will return again soon. Thank you.

Happy customers including pooch, Hank
The schoolhouse was just as described. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return. For us, no WiFi or phone reception (Telstra) was a great way to disconnect. The cottage received satellite TV so the hubby could still watch the footy. We were also pleasantly surprised that we could take our small pooch, Hank, who loved meeting Tilly and her little black and white buddy. They all made instant friends. The bed was very comfortable and warm. Cooking facilities were excellent. I was impressed by how quickly the water boiled in the induction stove top. Beautifully appointed and impeccable garden. Thank you for having us.

Rural bliss
We had booked the Schoolhouse cottage, but due to a double booking, Deborah upgraded us to the homestead. Wow! What an experience to stay in this grand old historic house. We loved everything - the sense of history, the gorgeous decor, the peaceful views from every window, relaxing in front of the fire, luxuriating in the bath with a view, rambling along the creek ... a truly wonderful stay.

A rare find
We stumbled on this cottage (a refurbished schoolhouse) when we wanted some place for four days to chill out on our way home from Sydney to Brisbane. It is right beside the magnificent homestead at the heart of a sheep and cattle station about 18 kms from Glen Innes. Lots of space for walking and checking out the goings-on of a working station. For us it was sitting of the verandah during the day and at night in front of wood burning fireplace. Total relaxation! The owners are gradually renovating many of the buildings but this was neither a distraction nor a hindrance to our experience. Do yourself a favour and try something different.

Historical glamour
Staying at Waterloo schoolhouse was quite an eye-opener. We were not expecting the magnificent homestead and the special touches to retain the wonderful historical value and stories of the property. The schoolhouse next door to the main house gave us the opportunity to enjoy the estate with our little piece of privacy. We enjoyed the thoughtfulness that has gone into providing guests with many added extras, especially around breakfast times! We also made some new friends with the family of possums who visited every night. Thank you so much to manager Kelly and her lovely daughter Laine for being so helpful and informative about absolutely everything, and for the wonderful guided tours of the homestead and the amazing renovated shearer’s lodgings! We are looking forward to returning hopefully sooner rather than later.

Absolutely perfect
From the moment we drove up the driveway, we knew we had found a perfect spot to spend a couple of days. To be allowed to share a small part of this grand pastoral property was unbelievable, but to be pampered and spoilt in the manner we were was out of this world. The School House was ideal for a couple with ample provisions and amenities. For anyone who is looking for a little isolation and a quiet, peaceful location, this is the one.

Waterloo was fabulous
Waterloo was a fabulous oasis of friendliness. We were enthralled by the serenity. We were captivated at having such a luxurious getaway in the hinterland of Glen Innes. We really are very thankfull at the opportunity to stay there and the guided tour of the big house was a bonus! The owners have done amazingly well at restoring this beautiful historic house.

What a great find!
We enjoyed two delightful days at Waterloo in the beautifully restored Old School House. We were met by hosts Deb and Don who could not have been more friendly. The School House was very comfortable with breakfast ingredients and Nespresso machine in the kitchen and a fire set ready to light in the fireplace. We sat on the veranda drinking tea and taking in Deb’s stunning garden. The property is really interesting and we spent both days walking around it. There is a babbling creek running through the property, expansive views from the ridges and an amazing shearing shed and newly restored shearers’ quarters. Deb has done a brilliant job on the design. You have to check out the giant ram in the kitchen! We were fortunate to get a couple of stunning sunsets to complete a top stay. We will definitely return!
