WHATEVER YOU DO. DO NOT STAY HERE. I REPEAT DO NOT STAY HERE. THE FOOD IS OLD, STALE, HORRIBLE, I ASKED FOR CLEAN TOWELS AND THE OWNER AND I GOT INTO A SHOUTING MATCH. HE EVEN TOLD ME GO BACK TO AMERICA. WE CHECKED OUT AN ENTIRE DAY EARLIER AND WAS CHARGED A 25$ US CANCELLATION FEE. FOR WHAT??? Only God knows. STAY AWAY FROM THERE. ITS DESERTED, NOTHING TO DO AND NOT AS DESCRIBED AS IN THE PUCTURES ON THE WEBSITE.

Not a resort for family with kids
Desk staff was rude. I booked three adults through Expedia but had no proof and hotel said I only had reservations for two and wanted to charge me an additional $700 for the third person. Breakfast was any kind of processed meat they could get from the garbage. The fruit was local and great. Will return to Costa Rica but would never recommend this resort. The bedding and pillows stunk. No coffee maker in huts.

Great spot to be away from it all.
Card machine for paying bills seems to always be offline and not working. The hotels grounds where beautiful and he staff was great. The rooms let in mosquitoes by the hundreds it seems like. Doors always closed and no windows open. Every night we had to hide under the sheets to keep from getting eaten alive.

A beautiful jungle retreat
We truly enjoyed our stay at this off-the-beaten-path property. Tucked away along the coastal highway, it is in close proximity to the many beautiful beaches and waterfalls of Osa province. We were given excellent advice on nearby sights by the resort owner. The resort bungalow was roomy, well built, and contained a small kitchen that was a huge bonus to my family. The included breakfast was delicious and the service wonderful.

So so
It's a lovely setting in the jungle but very muggy of course and the fans in the room can only help a little. We did see a very big and healthy cockroach as we were unpacking though. We informed the front desk of our roommate and they sprayed the room. When we returned, it was laying dead in the bathroom. You definitely need a car here! It's longer than 3km to Matapalo beach.

Rainforest Bungalow
This place is awesome! Highly recommend. The staff are all very friendly, and the grounds are immaculate. You will legitimately feel like you are living in the rainforest. Go ahead and spring the extra $$ for the private bungalow- well worth it! The road to La Palapa is very bumpy, but our 2WD Toyota Yaris managed it just fine.

Excellent hotel, great staff, very well located
Great location, super close to the fabulous 'Praia Linda'. It was a great base to visit the Pacific Coast and Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio. The Hotel staff is very friendly, rooms are very nice and the Hotel is truly located inside the tropical forest. Really recomend it for nature lovers who also enjoy good comfort and premium location. Excellent value for money.

Costa Rica is not for everyone! :)
CR has many different lodging options. This is def an "ecolodge". You will hear animals, find bugs plus more in CR. If you want 5 star accomm do not stay at an ecolodge! If you are going to stay at one this is good place.loved all the beauty in the gardens. The owner has invested alot into the grounds. There is even a nice hiking trail & waterfall on the property.I also liked how he had a ton of signs all over the property directing which way to go.owner is a very knowledgeable man We had many conversations with him& enjoyed his stories as well as help with activities & area. He may have a strong personality for some but he really does not intend to be rude. We were fine once we understood his personality type. He was nice to my family. The breakfast was VERY tasty as well as one of the best that we've had on our travels in CR. Beans/rice,eggs, fresh fruit & 3 different types of homemade bread along with 2 amazing jams!! (Yum!) The coffee & fresh juice was also a nice addition to bfast. He offers a nice dinner f (best meal in 10 days!) Dined both nts of stay. Make sure to ask what he is preparing for the eve. There is a not a menu to choose from. Also food can be expensive in CR. There is a 10% gratuity + 12% tax added on. 1st nt we had 3 plates & 2nd nt we had 4 plates. I pd a extra $129- US dollars at ck out for meals. Also Pd expected extra $100 @ ck in. Was told expedia reservation was just for 2 ( had 2 kids w/us)So I was very dissapointed I had to pay more $!!:(

Beautiful grounds, Beware of Owner
It's a shame really. The hotel grounds and garden are so beautiful. The price with a free breakfast to boot is fantastic. Location was great for us to explore south to Dominical and Uvita as well as north to Quepos. Breakfast was good enough with hot coffee, small serving of fruit, nice banana bread and serving of scrambled eggs, rice/beans, chorizo. Just beware the owner is snarly and confrontive over things that could easily be handled. It's a shame to have such negative energy in an otherwise good place. Would recommend the bungalows far above garden rooms for small price difference for added space, and cooler temps due to better fans, kitchen and nice to have small outside porch area.

A magical beautiful plush sanctuary
La Palapa is an absolute jewel! As I walked up the gorgeous plush flora trail to the reception a large Blue Morpho Butterfly fluttered softly in front of me, and I thought, this place is going to be AMAZING! Surely enough it was. The Palapa is a rainforest/garden delight with flora and fauna splendor. The bungalows and rooms are adorable, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The patios are so perfect to enjoy the pleasant rain that visited in the evenings. I could go on and on about the Palapa. I will say that this place provided a look in to an authentic slice of what Costa Rica is all about. We extended our stay and I wish to return in the future. I am so happy to have La Palapa memories in my life.

The place was nice, the experience not so much, the place has some "rules" like ask for your dinner before 3pm, first night we didn't even knew this exist so we couldn't even eat there, and also, there's no menu! Anyway we book there because Im trying to quit smoking and it's a non smoking place so I thought this will be nice, but next night, On the restaurant/bar the owner of the place was smoking right next to the "thanks for no smoke", well, so much of that... The place has nice rooms, they are very well equipped, kitchen and refrigerator, the road it's a little uncomfortable so make sure you go on a high car. Raiting: 3 out of 5

Wonderful hotel
Wonderful, really nice and clean hotel. Perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. We highly recommand this place. It is 30 min by car to manuel antonio park. Things to know: -There's no AC but you won't need it. The fan do perfectly the job. -The hotel is like a big botanical garden. -There's no tv and wifi in the room. For wifi you will need to go next to the pool and the reception.

Great spot to relax close to everything
This was a wonderful find. Both my teenage daughter and I had a lot of fun hanging out around the beautiful grounds, the pool is fantastic and I really recommend their home cooked meals for dinner, delicious! The owners take great pride in the amazing garden, the tasty cooking and arranging for all your tours and activities. As soon as we arrived we locked ourselves out of our car, and Cristina and Manuel gave us our bungalow key and told us not to worry about a thing. The following morning we found an agent with a replacement key waiting for us. We also became good friends with their son, who introduced us to some of the animals that live around the grounds, that was such a treat!

Be prepared to sleep in your car
The husband (owner) was very standoffish. The wife was more pleasant. There is no internet available in the rooms - only in the office/pool area. On the first night I returned to my hotel at 3am after going out for the evening, but I could not get into the hotel complex - the gate was locked! I was locked out, and spending the night sleeping in one's rental car is not my idea of fun. All my stuff was in my room, I could not shower, sleep... I was irritated, to say the least. Early the next morning when the gate was finally opened, I went back inside. I was greeted by the wife, one of the owners, and I told her how because they had locked the gate the night before, I didn't get to sleep in my room. She apologized, but then scolded me that I "should have honked my horn so that the guard would open the gate"; this apparently, was my fault. I told her that had she or someone else informed me prior to me going out for the evening that the gate would be locked, and that I should have honked my horn when I got back, I would have done so, but I was not aware that there was a guard at the gate (never saw anyone), and I didn't intend on honking my horn at 3am and waking up the entire neighborhood. She then said, in complete seriousness, well, "then you should have climbed over the wall of the complex" - I just stared at her, not believing what she was saying to me. There appears to be an unstated curfew at this facility, so if you leave, you may not be able to return.

Beautiful Location
Overall we really enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. The location is about a 45 minute drive from Manuel Antonio but easy enough to get to if you have your own transportation. The grounds are spectacular and well maintained and the pool looks nice as well. Breakfast was fantastic and home made. Dinner was great as well but a bit on the pricey side. Playa Linda is very close by and absolutely stunning and virtually deserted as it is a locals beach and seemingly only used on the weekends.
