Bella Vista Motel was an ideal base from which to explore the lakeside walks and Doubtful Sound further afield. Our room was spotless when we arrived and the amenities excellent. Just a short walk from the town, we had a good choice of dining options.

The room would have been adequate for a quick one night stopover but for a two nights it was much too small. Nowhere to unpack clothes. Pillows also not great. Location to town was good and staff very helpful.

1) Good points Lovely and very warm welcome upon arrival. Booked a compact queen studio as no others available. 2) No so good *It is very "compact" No hob or separate kitchen sink. Only sink in toilet to do washing up. Once cases and luggage in room there was no where to eat except sitting on bed. No hob to cook on, microwave only. Ok for one night but wouldn't want to be in the room longer. Very very expensive when comparing to other motels we are staying in during our month tour of the two islands. In short far too expensive and too small, perhaps ok for one very tidy and organised person

We stayed two nights in early February 2024. It’s a nice, clean accommodation and good place to rest and sleep. There’s also a small outdoors to chill out or mingle with other guests. Area around the hotel is very nice. Several restaurants and grocery store are within walking distance. The lake and park are within walking distance. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to other travelers. Thank you!

This was a great place to crash after a day in Milford Sound. The room was very clean and simple. Has heat, no AC - which didn't matter with the moderate temps and a window propped open. We checked in late and appreciated that the reception left detailed info for us. Parking was very convenient and we walked 5 mins to dinner and breakfast in the beautiful town as suggested by the friendly host. Would recommend and stay again.
