Peaceful Perfect NH Getaway

Publié le 5 déc. 2023 sur HomeAway
What a perfect spot. We had the best time relaxing and canoeing on the lake. The home was clean and so cozy with the wood stove running! Truly a perfect location for a couple's getaway, highly highly recommend.

Located in a relatively isolated lake location. If you like the outdoors, this is the place.

Beautiful lakeside retreat

Publié le 16 oct. 2022 sur HomeAway
We had a delightful time staying in this little cabin on Lake Bradley. The place was immaculately clean when we arrived, and Laurel's instructions made the process of getting there and settling in very easy. The cabin is tucked away, private and quiet. The views of the lake are stunning, especially from the large porch and gazebo. Even better, of course, when you walk 50 yards down to the waterfront to sit in the Adirondack chairs beside the firepit. The firepit is just one of many heating options. We loved the wood stove inside and although we didn't get to use either of the two grills, we were glad to know they were an option. Our days of climbing ladders to a second story loft are over, but if I were a kid or young and lithe I would love that space. As it was, we were happy downstairs. It's small but very workable. Laurel had left us a welcome note and bottle of maple syrup, and the kitchen was well stocked with coffee beans and a kettle - as tea drinkers, we love to have a kettle - and although the kitchen is small, it's perfectly adequate if you like to cook while on vacation. The cabin is near the end of a narrow gravel road. If you are arriving for the first time, I recommend you get there during the daylight hours. Once there, the seclusion will embrace you.

The cabin is on a beautiful lake and is very clean and functional but it is very small. You can’t swim in the lake or anywhere very close to the house and no guests are allowed at the house.

We were sorry this guest was disappointed by the size of our cabin and the rules. At the same time, it seems unfair to leave a negative review based on these rules, when they are shared clearly in the description of the property. The first line states that it is a TINY and cozy lakefront cabin. The second paragraph states that swimming is not allowed directly at the cabin, lists the places to swim and indicates how far they are (a 5-10 minute paddle or a one-mile drive). The listing only allows two people, which is what this guest reserved for. But she in fact had additional guests come twice to spend the night. It does not make sense to be disappointed that the cabin is small or that we objected to her additional guests when she listed only two people on her reservation. Our reasons for limiting to two guests are, we think, part of the charm of this special place. It is very remote, peaceful, and quiet-- a perfect place to enjoy nature and the company of one other person. We have only a couple quiet neighbors, and they too appreciate that our rental activities do not change the peaceful nature of this place, that there are not multiple cars coming and going, that one hears more wildlife calls than human calls. Even the fact that there is no swimming on our side of the lake has its advantages, because there is not a loud splashing, cannonballing, yelling, beach party atmosphere. All this is to say that we hope to rent our place to folks who are seeking this kind of quiet, peaceful, nature-based retreat.

My family thoroughly enjoyed the lake house and all its surroundings. Kayaking, yoga on the deck, and hiking up Mt. Kearsage!

Idyllic ski trip

Publié le 25 janv. 2021 sur HomeAway
Idyllic, quiet, private location with contemporary cabin feel. Being the second from last house on the road right before state park/forest lead to a very peaceful and quiet getaway, especially after long days on the slopes of Ragged Mountain - jut 20 minutes away. Kitchen was great and we prepared all our own food without any hiccups or lacking any utensils or appliances. The cross country skiing on the lake was wonderful - hit it right after a few inches of fresh powder and it was like floating on a cloud. The undeveloped side of the lake has a rugged, secluded beauty and homes on the other side are quite quaint little cottages. Overall I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Cabin was idyllic, Laurel, the host was very hospitable and welcoming. I can see this as a wonderful destination both in summer and winter!
