Mixed bag
Publié le 19 août 2024 sur HomeAwayHouse is a work in progress. Property owners are trying to make a nice property but have a ways to go. Heating/cooling is very limited. Main areas have airflow, all bedrooms nothing. Upgrades attempt to make look nice, but done very cheaply and quick. Towels for shower were old, thin worn out. House had multiple units, all units mice were seen and droppings found. Mouse in one unit crawled out of couch onto guest. Outside furniture was uncleaned and dirty. Good potential, not there yet.

Siblings Adventure Trip 2024
Publié le 6 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThere were 14 of us total and we had room to spare.The house is located literally minutes from everything we wanted to do and was the perfect location for our family reunion. We all definitely had some amazing adventures in IA.

Iowa Cubs
Publié le 7 juin 2024 sur HomeAwaywe booked this 3 unit place since we had a family trip to go see the Iowa Cubs. It was perfect for our needs. My husband was amazed at how spacious the units were. We were able to gather in the backyard to play bags and other yard games we brought. The hole in the fence so the neighbors dog could keep an eye on us is hysterical.
All of my questions were answered, check in and check out instructions were sent in a timely manner and self explanatory.
The location is great, minutes from the Iowa Cubs, downtown area and shopping.
if i had one thing to say it would be to add more fans to pull the cool air around the unit upstairs.

Big Old Farmhouse in the City

We had our family Christmas reunion here. The 3 units worked out well for our out of town families to stay. This is an old place that still needs repairs here & there but what house over 100 years old doesn’t. I’m sure it was grand in its early days. I’m happy that the owners have plans for repairs & more updating because I hate to see old homes get run down. There was a leak under one of the kitchen sinks. The maintenance man couldn’t get his key to get to the water main to shut it off in order to fix it. So we just put a bowl under the sink to catch the water.
A sign on the thermostats said Do Not Touch.
Its January & freezing. People were to cold to sleep. Luckily I live local so took over a bunch of comforters so they could keep warm.
More blankets, bath towels, hand towels & wash clothes would be nice to have in all units.
It would be nice to have the option to rent the units singular instead of having to rent all 3 units.
Overall it worked for our family reunion.

Hi Lanette, thanks for staying! You can always turn up the heat to whatever you would like next time. It just says to "use the white remotes to change", not to "leave alone completely".
Also, we do have option to rent each unit separately. Check our profile for each unit available. Thank you

Old house with plenty of beds that are comfy

Loved staying all together in Des Moines for Thanksgiving
Publié le 27 nov. 2022 sur HomeAwayWe loved finding a 10 bedroom place to rent for the week so that our whole family could be together for Thanksgiving, but we won't be back. While the location was good for vising the city and coffee shops, the house was a disappointment. Wallpaper is falling off the walls. Outlets are not covered. Smoke detectors are removed and/or disabled. (One was chirping in the basement and could be heard through the cold air return.) There were no kitchen towels for dishes or hands, plenty of dishes and pans but no pots for using in the oven, and there was a mouse. To use the garbage disposal, you had to connect an extension cord underneath the sink to the disposal! The front door doesn't close and a couple of the stairs going to the upstairs unit are broken (and extremely dirty!). One of the queen size beds has a smaller box springs making the sides droop on the bed. The blinds were broken in a couple of the rooms. The front steps are uneven and not ADA compliant. I don't think this rental is up to code! And when we arrived, there was a large pile of dog poop in the yard.

Huge space for big groups.

Cousins Reunion
