Publié le 27 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayArrived finding no power in house due to a recent storms which had come through the area, Garvin graceously came over to get backup generator started and it would not start. Garvin worked with the power company multiple times trying to get power back on, but when we left late in the evening there still was no power and we ended up staying in a local hotel. Of course power did come on after we left, but due to other things that happened while in the house (found a roach) we never actually stayed in the house. We contacted VRBO before leaving house and requested a full/partial refund, which was declined.

Although the house was inspected that afternoon (the power was on at 3p), unfortunately, at the time of arrival (4p), the power was temporarily off due to crews working in the area. The power company did not give advanced notice, but upon calling, reported that it would be temporary.
The house is equipped with a generator, however it was malfunctioning and has since been repaired. I and my daughter did as much as we could to assist the guest and his family by working with the generator, bringing flashlights, cold water, etc. I was in constant communication with the power company and the guest. The power was restored approximately twenty minutes after he informed me that they were leaving. I texted the guest and invited them to return. He declined.
Given the recent storms, a bug did enter the back door way and was noted by the guest while my daughter was delivering the flashlights. My daughter sprayed and removed the pest. We have regular professional pest control inside and outside of the house, and such pests are unusual.
VRBO performed a health and safety survey and found that our property is well kept, clean, and pest free.

Convenient to Rice U

Great location, very clean family home

The place was very spacious and clean, and the host was very nice, responsive, and helpful. It really felt like a comfortable family home rather than a place created and staged for short-term rental, which I appreciated. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the place is nicely furnished and comfortable. I'd definitely stay here again!
