The Best Week

The location was amazing and being able to come home from the beach and go straight to the pool or hot tub was a huge plus. Any questions we ever had were answered immediately and the house offered everything we needed and more!! We highly recommend staying here!

Dirty and Infested with fleas!!!
Publié le 13 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayEverything seemed normal as we arrived. Day 2 our dogs are covered in fleas!! We let the owner know, he contacted pest control , we were asked to leave next day for 3 hours while they sprayed. We were never accommodated for this. In meantime we spent over $100 buying flea products , we have never had this issue before. The spray did not work. I let the owner know, he then ignored my message so I had to reach out to vrbo. Owner then says he did receive my text which he never responded to and says he will do nothing about this issue, he continues to blame my family and then reminded us of our checkout time. I sent him photos we took of the place, the dishes were not washed, walls covered in spills, light fixtures and ceiling caked with dirt and above all, dead fleas lined up underneath sliding glass doors. These pictures were taken just days in, he blamed me again. It’s disgusting. Our family flew in from Texas, we felt uncomfortable the entire time. The place is gross. We met the cleaner upon arrival, just one older woman , we saw her vehicle, all was messy. The owner refuses any refund, any opportunity to make this better for us. Do yourself a favor and don’t bring your dogs and rent a different property, one without carpet. We will never book here again and the owner was so rude to me, won’t take any responsibility. Not worth the money, so many other nicer places. I felt like I couldn’t bring anything up to him. We didn’t even get to mention the human blood down the fence

I would like to start with day one, check in day. It was requested if they could have an early check in due to arriving 3 hrs. prior to the prescribed Check in time, to which I promptly responded as soon as I had word the cottage was ready I would notify them, however they were welcome to park in the driveway and access the beach. Shortly thereafter I received a message from my house keeper that they were proceeding to bring belongings into the, cottage, at which point she stated she was about 80% complete, but would not proceed further with folks checking in on top of her. Which I fully support and understand, there are house rules for a reason. I then learn that there are 3 dogs along with the family. It clearly states in the listing that there is a $50 per pet, pet fee. This fee was never paid. And when asked about this, she simply shrugged it off saying she did not see a place to add the fee. This is of course entirely an honor system when you make your booking. As for the fleas, I have never had a problem in 6 years of ownership. I have a quarterly contract with a local pesticide company The most recent of treatments was only 2 weeks prior to this guest's stay. As well, the carpets and upholstery, were just professionally cleaned to begin the season. This a service I have performed at minimum 3 times a year. I was only notified of a problem late Monday evening, (2 days after check in). The best conclusion I could draw was that either they were brought in during that time frame or came with them. Yes the guest was asked to not be at the cottage during the time of the pesticide treatment, about 3 hrs.. No I was not inclined to offer compensation, (remember the unpaid pet fees?) From there I believe all to be well until Friday/Saturday morning after the family had stayed in the cottage a week, the duration of their reservation when I receive a personal text message of pictures showing thing being not properly cleaned. Saturday morning I get a VRBO message that I had not responded the previous day to which I apologize and explained I was very busy at work. Even having seen the message, I do not believe it to have been advantageous to communicate off platform. Now the question is raised as to how she was going to be compensated. In my opinion this was someone tryin to get somethin for nothing. Sorry for the long winded response. Please folks I implore you to keep scrolling and visit the other 102 reviews giving me an overall rating of 9.8/10.

Stay at Summer Breeze! You won’t regret it. A much needed vacation at a wonderful location!
Publié le 13 mai 2024 sur HomeAwayFirst I want to say that Summer Breeze was so wonderful and so much better than expected! Our expectations were kept low, and that wasn’t necessary at all! The home is clean, spacious, and in good condition. We played a few of the board games and loved the pool, deck, and dining room table. We can’t wait to come back!!
Loves: location, condition, ac, pool, spacious, wonderful outdoor spaces, communication with host - so fast!!
Suggestions: A few minor suggestions would be that the mattresses are a bit uncomfortable. With so many different people staying here that’s understandable, but would highly recommend mattress toppers to help. Another suggestion would be the channel list. Currently all the channels are listed on the provided channel guide but having just the channels available would be much better. Another option might be to get a roku stick. It’s inexpensive and would turn your tv into a smart tv so people can log into their apps (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc) to watch whatever and could save you money on cable. Just a thought, but TV was really the least of our worries!
Mentionables - Doors were unlocked when we arrived and that felt uncomfy as 4 women. It seems that the en suite sliding door is broken/doesn’t lock. There is the door stopper but that was laying on the carpet and the actual door lock is broken. When we arrived that and the lower level door were unlocked and accessible. Having the sliding door stoppers were great added security when in use though!

Unanimous - “Best family vacation ever”

Two minute walk to the beach, great fenced in yard for children and pets with sand filled volleyball court which got a lot of use for sand toys. Lots of extras such as quality night lights in all bathrooms, plastic dishware for outside use, great hot tub, sparkling pool, and a kitchen equipped with everything we needed. Washer and dryer on both levels were wonderful. Beautiful spacious accommodations We would love to come back some year

Puppy Paradise on Earth

Every question I asked was answered so quickly. This house is a pet friendly house but you can’t tell. When you walk in it smells like a pet has never been inside. It is extremely clean and extremely convenient in every way.
This house is also handicap friendly. I had gotten plantar fasciitis right before our trip and was able to walk without going on any steps right into the first floor, which had a beautiful master bedroom and walk-in shower.
If you’re traveling with older parents, it’s perfect because they have their own kitchen and own living space down there.
The yard is perfect for dogs. It is so spacious. I’ve never seen such a spacious backyard in the Outer Banks before that’s fenced in. You won’t regret booking this house. It is so convenient to everything and just steps away from the beach. We will definitely be back next year.

Kelly and her family were absolutely wonderful guests. It makes us very happy that they had such a wonderful vacation. You would have never known that they had 5 dogs with them, the cottage was left in immaculate condition. We welcome Kelly back anytime and would be happy to recommend her to other hosts.
