Great stay in La Romana at Sol Azul

We had a great stay there.It's a very nice small hotel with simple but clean and confortable rooms, very quiet in the night.
In the day, we could use the swimming pool and the bar. Very good price-quality ratio
The hotel is well located :
- close to a nice beach, local bars and restaurant, only used by Dominicans
- close to public transportation so we could go easily to Casa de Campo, to Altos de Chavon, and to Parque nacional del Este
John, the owner is a very nice, interesting and helpfull guy. He really helped us in planning our tour around La Romana.
If we go back to La Romana we'll definitely stay in Sol Azur

We were excited to stay here but it felt very disappointing. At first, the entrance and parking were so hard to find. Then they didn’t know we were arriving. The very nice and polite young lady called the owner while we waited. We were offered a beverage (recommended by her) which we gratefully accepted. We knew there was a welcome drink provided and really, for the delay we should have been provided one. But surprisingly we were charged with the explanation that she was new, our room was ok. The bed was hard and the ac wasn’t working. After I told he owner, he came and checked and told us to let him know if not any better. I’m the end, we were switched rooms. There was a birthday party and the music was really loud. We wanted to partake in the pool but felt that that we would have intruded on the party. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. All in all, we felt that it missed its mark.

Das Hotel wird gerade umgebaut. Der neue Besitzer gibt sich Mühe. Aber im Zimmer kein Stuhl, im Bad weder Haken, noch Ablagen. Die Umgebung des Hotels sehr vermüllt. Es wird nach Fertigstellung sicher besser, bei Kurzübernachtung geht es. Gut waren Freundlichkeit und das Frühstück mit super Kaffee !!!

Did not meet the minimum requirements of a hotel. Never use it. And cancel my reservation right-away
