Cold Springs Cabin

Cute rustic cabin
Publié le 8 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe location of the cabin was great. Close to Pinecrest and Dodge Ridge. The deck was huge and it was fun to sit out and BBQ and look out at the beautiful trees. The host was very accommodating and replied quickly.
Its a great place to go spend your weekend in the mountains.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. It is a great mountain cabin. We updated with the retro look to keep it groovy. The new luxury vinyl flooring was picked to enhance the cabin feel. It is close to all uphill Pinecrest summer/winter activities and the area is beautiful. I'm so glad your kids enjoyed it.

Beautiful setting but safety issues need addressing

conveniently to Pinecrest Lake. We really enjoyed our hikes, time at the lake and the beautiful scenery, but the cabin was a bit disappointing, especially for the kids. They were looking forward to sleeping on bunkbeds but were unable to use them due to major safety issues. The upper bunks had no rails and also had 8 inch openings at the end of the mattresses that were completely open to bottom bunk. Quite frightening to think of anyone sleeping in them. Also, the upstairs TV did not get any stations and although their was a VHS player and numerous tapes, it wasn't hooked up (it was in a closet) so the kids were unable to enjoy the retro movies. Other safety concerns were that the front window didn't have a latch to lock it for security and the slider blinds didn't cover the window so we felt like we were on show to the back neighbors at night. Although dishwashing tablets and paper towels were supplied, there weren't enough of either to cover five people for a week long stay. Luckily we were able to buy more (at outrageous prices) at the Pinecrest store. I'm also really glad it didn't get too cold at night because there wasn't one blanket in sight. I really hope the safety issues are addressed before anyone gets hurt because the cabin is cozy and quaint, and deserves to be enjoyed.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I'm concerned that you stayed for a week and never called, text, or emailed so that we could have assisted you. It's a great family fun cabin accommodating guests for years. The bunk beds are built into the cubby walls, industry standard dimensions, safety secure ladders, the portable bedrails for child use are in the cabinet in ther room. The neighbors cannot see into the windows. The bedroom upstairs has a large tv cabinet for the tv and VCR. Guests frequently plug in game boxes and play. All the plug ins are there for the equipment available. We would have loved the opportunity to assist you. It's a beautiful area, lots of fun things to do. The cabin has a game table, chess, checkers, etc as well as foosball. It's close to all the lakes and rivers, dodge ridge and winter sports as well. Thank you, Darlene

The deck needs to be redone. Boards missing nails. Scary.
Parking stinks.

Hi, I know the heat wave made everyone cranky. The kitchen appliances are new, brand new luxury vinyl floors and the stove/oven are new we just kept the retro theme because the space was perfect for it. It's a great cabin with a great deck/outdoor space. It's a wonderful family/pet place. Fireplace and fun in winter, foosball. Lots to do in the this area of the forest. Thank you, Darlene

I'm so pleased you had a great time! We tried to maintain the mountain retro feel when we made upgrades to the kitchen and flooring. It's fun to enjoy the retro cabin feel with all the windows in the main living space, watching the snow fall is pretty amazing!. It's a great family mountain cabin.

Ski race weekend trip
Publié le 26 févr. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe booked the house for two families for the weekend for our kids to race at Dodge Ridge. We arrived after dinner, checking was seamless. The house did not have wifi which was almost an issue because we had a work issue to handle but it is advertised properly that there is no wifi. There were clean dishes in the dishwasher to be u loaded. They say to bring your own paper towels and toilet paper but there was some of each upon arrival. The communication with the host was easy. 5 kids slept in the loft which is perfect for kids and two couples used the rooms downstairs. We will try to book this same home when we come back to ski dodge ridge. It was a quick 12 minute drive to the resort.

Publié le 13 janv. 2024 sur HomeAwayPlace was as advertised- older cabin fit for family stay; once heater got going it was very warm and cozy; appliances are a bit dated and we waited a while for boiling water etc. Very convenient location close to Dodge Ridge. Now they need snow!

I'm so glad you had a good time. The appliances are all new in the last 2 yrs, we chose the retro look for stove top and oven because our guests loved the era of the original cabin build.
