A week at the beach
Publié le 23 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayLoved the closeness to the beach. Wonderful community. Didn’t like no screen on sliding glass door. Too many flies on patio so when patio door open flies came in house. Flies are unsanitary.

Publié le 10 août 2024 sur HomeAwayGreat location and beautiful beach. Old outdated unit that needs to be completely remodeled. Old plumbing, electrical, internet. Many things did not work properly. No amenities for the beach besides chairs. Coin-operated laundry in the garage which I have never experienced before in a vrbo. Would definitely go to Newport Beach again but would not rent this unit.

Great Location.

It is an older house, so amenities are not updated but overall it was clean, and the check in process was a breeze. The kitchen is not fully equipped so make sure you bring specific items. The patio door is locked by using a stick (door lock doesn’t work) and the Wi-Fi is extremely slow. There is one parking space in the garage but it is shared with I assume a permanent resident upstairs. Whomever lives in the above unit is awake and you can hear them throughout the night even after quiet hours. This place has so much potential, it just needs a little TLC. If you are looking for something super simple and budget friendly, this is the place for you.

Strange stay in a great neighborhood
Publié le 9 mars 2024 sur HomeAwayWe arrived 30 minutes prior to check-in time and sent a text to request early check-in. We didn’t hear back although we accessed the home on time with the code. The property looks quite different than the pictures, despite being the same “stone” material the pictures are doctored and look well better than reality. Mind you, that is before the construction began. Despite advertising an available parking spot, the owners car takes up the majority of the garage and makes parking effectively impossible with a suv or larger vehicle. We gave up trying to use it on the second day of our stay. As we were getting settled there was suddenly a man in the living area, unknown to any of us. We asked who he was and he simply responded with his name, nothing more. He suggested he needed to fix the heat (in summer), and proceeded to begin some work in the main hall of the house (not allowing access to the brooms /bathrooms. On our second morning as we were relaxing on the front patio, a work crew arrived and said they were doing minor work on the garage and wouldn’t disturb, They stayed all day, making a tremendous amount of noise. Even better, a worker drilled a hole through the garage wall and into the adjacent bedroom wall, making a hole visible to outside. The hole was never fixed during our stay. On our last morning the workers were back and as loud as ever, they also had the front yard caution-taped. A failure of disclosure!

Thanksgiving
Publié le 1 déc. 2023 sur HomeAwayLocation was great. Neighborhood was great . Parking was a bit of a challenge . Listing said nothing about not having AC. Not real clear as to where to put trash. However all in all not a bad place .

Publié le 12 nov. 2023 sur HomeAwayWe were a bit nervous after reading the reviews, but didn't want to lose our booking fee, so we went with lowered expectations. We were pleasantly surprised, particularly by the cleanliness & the location, both of which were excellent. We stayed in the lower unit, which was exactly as described & photographed. The beds were very comfortable with fans & extra blankets & pillows. The unit itself is spacious & it was nice to have 2 bathrooms, however, the bathtub STILL does not drain, despite all the reviews. The tap is also funny, it should actually come with instructions. The other bathroom was perfectly fine. The "musty smell" people complain about is part of life when you live a block from the ocean (duh), it wasn't bad. Our daughter appreciated the beach toys. We didn’t use the BBQ, but it looked quite nice. The kitchen's gas stove worked great. Our unit was very quiet until the new renters showed up above us, the sound does travel through the floor & it sounded like they had a couple baby elephants playing tag at one point. A couple other things if you plan to stay here... don't rely on parking in the garage, there's no way 2 cars can fit & don't rely on laundry unless you're comfortable handling someone else's (coin operated & always full). One last thing we noticed was that the ad stated “dog ok” but there’s a sign on the wall that clearly states “absolutely no pets on the property”, you might want to double check before planning on bringing your furry friend(s) along.

Disappointing
Publié le 14 oct. 2023 sur HomeAwayI wish I would’ve read the comments carefully. The unit is extremely outdated and smells musty, almost like a kitty litter box. In fact, it almost felt like a cat had been in the space because I felt a bit allergic in the living room with a big area rug. The space is dark and not well-appointed for cooking meals. The tub had a very slow/plugged drain, which I now see was also an issue for a visitor in March -in 6 mos, this issue has not been resolved. We were under the impression we would have access to a washer and dryer but the machines were coin operated, in the garage. The listing also said that we could park in the garage, but there was no room to park because another car was permanently parked there. The proximity to the beach, our short stay and the outside patio are what made our stay bearable.

Needs cleaning and updating.
Publié le 10 août 2023 sur HomeAwayWe had a plumbing issue where the shower would not turn off which took 24 hours to fix. Everything is old, musty, and needs a deep cleaning. The kitchen needs more pots and mixing bowls. The coin operated washer and dryer are not great. We went to a laundry mat up the street. The location is great and we have stayed in the general area for decades but we do not recommend this place.
