Could Have Been Great

The home was beautiful but not kept up, great location, & had great space. The DAY we were due to check in the management co. called us while on our way & said they had some issues & did not have a crew to clean the home for our arrival. The options were- 1.Cancel. 2.Move to another location w/ less bedrooms, less bathrooms, 4 less beds, less amenities such as no game room for kids & more outdated FOR THE SAME PRICE. 3.Clean the house ourselves and we would not have to pay the cleaning fee. Since we were already on our way we could not cancel, the alternative home wouldn't be suitable for our needs, which left us with clean the home ourselves. It was so disappointing & frustrating, especially with no foresight. The location was just as the last people had left it. They had not even provided any supplies such as shampoo, tp, dish soap, sponges, garbage bags etc. There was a mop in the snow w/ a few strings & was black & the dryer took about 3 hours to dry a load taking until midnight for clean sheets. We ended up making a store run to buy cleaning & home supplies for our stay. We contacted VRBO & let them know the situation so they were aware as well as to protect ourselves from being responsible for anything from the previous guests. VRBO offered $100 goodwill reimbursement to cover the supplies as the property management would do nothing more. After 2 calls in 2 weeks, we have still have received nothing from VRBO. Could have been great but managed and taken care of poorly:(

Beautiful location, excellent management team.

We are so grateful to have enjoyed our stay here. Stunning location, beautiful house. Not stocked the greatest, a lot of the kitchen supplies were broken. The only mixing bowl had a hole in it, and no simple essentials like a wine/bottle opener (so we donated one to the property). The kitchen was very dirty upon check in, and I sent photos to management. Still awaiting a resolution regarding this. Otherwise, beautiful home with plenty of space!

Great Place, Needs Some Love

I can imagine this house was amazing in its heyday, but it needs quite a bit love before she's back to her original glory. Similar to what other folks have written, there are quite a few things missing or broken that should be a relatively quick fix. If you're willing to work around non-working appliances, wobbly handrails and general lack of upkeep, its a great fit!

Had a wonderful time, but the house itself left a bit to be desired

Seems like the house and property have gone a bit neglected. House was cool/unique in that it definitely offered the feel of a “sportsman’s lodge”, which we really liked. But a lot in the house either didn’t work, was broken, or needed updating. Big heavy oak wood chairs in the dining room were very rustic, but several had broken arms/pieces. We actually had to put one outside for our entire stay for fear of someone impaling themself on it. Dish washer didn’t work. More lights were out/needed to be replaced than worked. BBQ worked sporadically. Half of the stove top burners either didn’t work or were missing knobs. Luckily the setting and surroundings were just what we were looking forward (very rustic, quiet, and calming), and we had a great family vacation. But in summary, the house itself should have been in better condition given the cost.

Shaver Lake Amazing Cabin

The cabin was amazing! Kept the kids at bay by sending them upstairs with the rooms n pool table while the adults enjoyed the beautiful weather outside!
