There were three of us in a one-bedroom deluxe apartment (with a loft bed). Our daughter had the loft, which had three beds on the floor. She had to climb the steep ladder to accessed the loft. It has a low ceiling as the loft is sloped; therefore, one has to be really careful. This is OK for a young person, but not for elderly folks. But they also have a double sofa bed, if one doesn’t want to climb the ladder.
There is no front desk at this property. I think the communication with the owners is not good. The check-in is at 5 PM, which I think is too late. We talked to the maid around 2 PM and she said that the room would be available at 4 PM, which it was. The instructions were not clear: again, we had to ask the maid for help in getting the key from the box. Closing the door was also tricky, and we had to leave the apartment unlocked. Good that crime is rare in Iceland! At the end of the day, we asked another maid, and she showed us the trick to lock the door. All these quirks should be explained in the email.
The apartment itself has been remodeled recently and looks nice. Their website says “full kitchen.” But one major drawback is the absence of a microwave oven, which is absolutely needed. My daughter had a hard time with the washer/dryer combo. It would be nice to have brief instructions available for foreigners that aren’t used to European style appliances.
This apartment was a good value. We enjoyed our stay 3-night stay.
