One day stop turned into 2
We found this little place away from the city to unwind after being on the road for 10 days. 6 rooms and we were te only ones there. Host was great. Food was good. Great walking trails nearby. E stayed an extra night. Had our laundry done which was great. Price was reasonable for everything.

Carlos is an outstanding host full of advice about the local area. He serves delicious 3 course meals with home produce each evening at a very reasonable cost. The property is located in a stunning setting.

Location superb (for a hideaway not for convenience) Eco friendliness excellent Checkin lady was lovely Asked about a/c and for a kettle (after a 17 hr non stop drive) and was told but the frustrated male owner indicated no and no. Understandable I suppose but it was the manner in which it was handled

Lovely stay in beautiful surroundings
The winding road up to the hotel makes you wonder where you will end up, but you end up at a very green and friendly location. The people went out of their way to make me dinner and made me feel welcome. The room was lovely, the bed large and slept great (maybe the fresh air had also something to do with that). Only thing I noticed was that the wifi signal in my room (1) was too weak for me to use.

Adventure!
All was brilliant and the owners were fantastic. Driving up to it is quite hairy because you are on a single track concrete path with a sheer drop on the right outside for about 4 km. A few more signs to indicate the position of the hotel would be useful and make sure you drive when it’s daylight! As there are no lights on the way up atall and beware of the cows you will meet walking up with you! !

Third on a cot.
The wi-fi doseem to work properly. We got a username and a password for a secured site but all that was available was an unsecured site that didn’t require either, but then didn’t ever allow one to get online. We booked for three adults and ended up with two twin beds and a cot. Who puts an adult on a cot?!? There was barely room to maneuver around said cot, which wasn’t comfortable. We should’ve been charged for three people, or like 2 1/2. The self parking turned out to park in the mall parking lot or be charged $10 to park in the hotel parking. Had this been a stay for two people it would’ve been OK.

Excellent food and welcome with kind attention to help us. This auberge is completely about it's location high in the mountains which is really good once you have found it Sat Nav to Alonsotegi then Google maps using 4G Roaming to find the Inn,,You will need to be a competent driver and hope you don't meet a vehicle coming down when you are going up!

This place in in the middle of nowhere. We drove on a one way goat trail to get there. We had to wait on cows to get out of the road. After the drive- We did not bother to check in. We just turned around and left. There was only one car there-I can’t image getting in and out of the place during the dark.

Hard to locate and narrow mountain road to propert
This is a country retreat for local or spain couple or family spending a few days enjoying the rustic setting. However, this is definitely not for enroute for one night stay. We chose this place seeing the high rating, free parking and breakfast and reasonable price compared to other Bilboa hotels. However, it took us almost two hours to find the site. The map from Hotel.com was wrong which led us to only the village at the bottom of the mountain. Fortunately there was a local man who tried to help but we do not understand his spanish. Finally, we keyed in the hotel postal code into Google Map did it show it is still some 30 minutes away from the Hotel.Com map location. It is a very remote and dangerous uphill drive on a total dark and one lane road with deep ravice on one side. wanted to give up a few times. We were the only guest the friday night. Host only spoke spanish but was friendly. room has no heating and it was an unusally cold night of 5 degree C. Breakfast was simple and no hot food. Wifi was good as we were the only one using. Won't want to visit again. However, it is good for family who wants to stay multiple days here. Also, must make the trip in bright day light.

BOOK WITH CARE. Read all the reviews carefully!
The access road takes centre stage here. When you make the turn in the nearest village you wonder if this is the right road, its single track. The accommodation is 3 miles down this road and about half way the single track road becomes even narrower and your first thought is "you've got to be kidding". The twists and turns then become very very tight and the incline makes the drop to the side more and more significant. The lack of passing places causes some anxiety about meeting oncoming traffic. these 3 miles can only be done at 5 mph to 15 mph. I've read the hosts are friendly, I will never know as they only speak Spanish. Exclusively Spanish! The room was small but clean. The evening meal starts at 8.30 (not before) and offers good choice at reasonable price 15 Euros. Breakfast bland and forgettable. We stayed in November and the place was kept in darkness if there was a cafe bar it wasn't open. I think they have something just for the brochure. The views are good. Book this place only if you like a driving challenge, nice scenery and speak fluent Spanish. For a cheap stop over its not worth the effort, pay a bit more for a room and buy a cheaper evening meal if your on a budget.
