The website we booked our accommodation with (UK-based Expedia) stated the location was Altea. It may be the administrative region of, or, Greater Altea, but it is nowhere near Altea town. The name of the beach the accommodation is at is La Barreta. Therefore, we were totally unprepared logistically, not having transportation. Note, there is no public transport in this area, if you don't have a car you need to use taxis. Also, be aware, there is no ATM (cash machine) in this area, the nearest is a very steep walk 20 minute's up the hill at MasyMas supermarket. The immediate area, though, is like a 'ghost town' with hundreds of empty apartments in private complexes alongside a marina with 100 luxury yachts and cruisers. The number of rules, regulations and aggressive police presence give the impression that this location is for the rich only. There is no convenience store available and little choice of cafes/restaurants - most being expensive and bland. Note that there is noise from neighbours in the form of walking, chairs moving and toilet flushing (from upstairs) as often experienced in apartment buildings with tile floors, so take ear plugs for sleeping.
