Let's start with the area, very nice area. For being on a "main road" it was not such a busy street thankfully. The lake was pretty much right across the street with a very short walk that we did each day, we walked down to the public dock and hung out for a bit and enjoyed the lake from the shore(we didn't have the oppertunity to rent and be on the lake). Up the street(north) one way just a few miles there was a town market, and a handful of eaterys. A few more miles up was dunkin, gas, supermarket, lowes, etc...heading south past the house a few miles put you into "downtown" alton and the very touristy vibe of the the lake(shops,, bars, rentals,, etc). The house was big, and had plenty of space for everyone to spread out. We utilized the side porch with the big picnic table with the tiki torches and brand new grille, just off the deck was the firepit where we spent the 2nd most time while at the house. Plenty of parking available, plenty of room for the kids to play if you come with kids. The wood working and workmanship inside the house (doll houses, pallet wall, the ceiling) were all very nice. The games in the parlor were good, a couple of us enjoyed the bumper pool and dart board, others played the Paxman arcade game. The couch is massive and was barely used(by us) the kitchen nice and big plenty of room to move around. The whole house was very light, bright, and airy. For the most part the house was very clean.
