The property was OK. At issue was the owner. We were in town for a conference and arrived the night before the conf started. On the second night, we got back around 8:00. PG&E had a note on the door that the gas was turned off. We finally managed to reach the owner who would not do much to contact PG&E. He said that it was too late. Bottom line, we finally got a hold of PG&E to turn on the gas for heat, but there was a problem with the water heater, so no hot water. This was late, around 11 pm or so. After talking further with the owner to get a plumber to fix the water heater, he said no plumber would come out that late. We found a plumber to come out, but he could not fix the problem. By that time is was after 12 or 1:00 a.m., I don't remember how late, but we were taking care of his house and very tired.
The next morning, the owner would not come to the house to wait for a plumber and expected us to be there to let the plumber in. We had a conference that day and could not be there for a plumber to fix the water heater. He said he had too many other things to do and would not come. So - basically he was saying that either we stayed around for a plumber or not have hot water. When I objected, he said that we should leave and he would give us a refund.
Not a good way to behave to a customer. Very strange.
