Beautiful Setting
Loved the house. The driveway is a bit tricky and it was a little hard to fine. It was clean but my tub didn't drain well so that's a little gross. The setting was picturesque and the grounds are beautiful. The shower pressure and water temp were a little low. Overall, highly recommend.

Ready to go back!
Had a long-overdue reunion with siblings and we enjoyed staying here so much that we’re ready to go back! Great place for staying-in and catching up, and close to town and all the fun things to do (like a whale-watching tour). Very nice place, clean and well-equipped. Skagit Bay is right outside your door, how can you beat that?

Beautiful views - could be even better
We had a lovely stay and the accommodation was as seen in the listing. However it feels like some minimal interventions would take the place to another level; - the beds were not very comfy - the door lock mentioned in earlier reviews still not resolved - the outdoor furniture and bbq are tatty and in need of upgrade - especially when the stuff next door is clearly visible! - a noisy heating system kicked in at 5am All easily fixable and would help justify the price tag

Nice house on the bay
This is a modern, small house with direct south view of the bay. The two bedrooms and baths are out of the way, huge kitchen and main area to relax and enjoy the view. The vibe is similar to the San Juan Islands, without the long ferry ride to those places. Yard space and beach access are fantastic.

Overall my experience was great. The place and property are super cute. a few things could be improved on like fixing lock to front door and new beds or mattresses. Wifi was ok but at times not great. I would come back or also would recommend to friends and family.

Beautiful views with comfortable home
Very nice place. My only comment is that if there is a person with mobility issues with you it can be challenging. The driveway is super steep and the rock stairs were a bit difficult for my cousin with mobility issues. The home is nice.

Driftwood Retreat Deficiency List
1. Directions provided from roadway to parking spot and from parking spot to cabin are inaccurate and confusing. A basic map of the property would be helpful. 2. The lock on the sliding door does not work via key from the outside. However the door can be locked from the inside by turning the locking latch. We assume that is the reason a bicycle lock is provided to secure the cabin. 3. The control panel for the alarm system displays the message "Not Ready To Arm-Fault". When "Disarm" is selected the display defaults to the previous message. We can't get it to work properly. 4. We noted a gouge in the kitchen island counter top. It was there when we arrived. 5. We have been unable to locate a light switch to turn off the light in the loft over the eastern end of the cabin. 6. The BBQ grill is functional but the flame is irregular, indicating that the burners need to be replaced. 7. Upon returning to the cabin from a trip into the nearby town of Anacortes on Saturday, we discovered another vehicle in our designated parking spot, leaving us insufficient room to park our own vehicle. 8. The WIFI is not working properly. We have been able to receive emails on our iPhones but have been unable to send emails. 9. When we attempted to activate email from our laptop, the computer seized up completely and we have been unable to reboot it. UPDATE: Since returning home today, the laptop is again functioning properly, which suggests that the problem was caused by the cabin's faulty WIFI. 10. There is a wheel missing from the lower rack of the dishwasher. 11. The fan in the east bathroom does not work. 12. On Saturday night, the bed in the east bedroom collapsed, so we moved into the west bedroom. 13. We were unable to set the alarm when we checked out Sunday morning. See point 3 above. 14. Access to the designated parking spot is via a very steep, narrow driveway, with a very tight turning radius into the parking area and the parking spot itself is not level. The cabin is in a beautiful, scenic location but due to the problems we encountered we believe that we are entitled to a partial refund.

The wonderful location, beautiful view, and interesting house design made this a memorable trip. Beach access is marvelous and though it wasn't the best of weather, it was fun to watch the constantly changing sky and water out the huge expanse of glass. We hope to be back someday.

Small but gorgeous home with stunning views. Very nice outdoor area with beach access. The check-in process is not good and can be improved. The washer doesn’t work probably at all. It moves very badly on spin cycles. It moves the way 2 people should hold it as the dryer on top could fall off.

Cute but needs maintenance and a few additional things
This property presents nicely and is semi-private since it shares the outdoor area with another house. Lovely location and view of the water. Many maintenance items identified by earlier reviewers were still outstanding so that is quite a long while that no work was done to address those. The kitchen was okay in terms of tools and dishes -- items like a citrus juicer, wooden spoons, parchment paper, and containers with lids would be good to have. There wasn't a way to lock the door on the inside so that the property couldn't be entered even if the key was retrieved from the lockbox (I've had this situation happen before) and the alarm system seemed to not allow a 'stay' mode. Noise from airplanes passing by was quite noticeable indoors and quite frequent. Note there is a bit of a walk between the car space and this property, along a gravel path so not the easiest for moving luggage and other gear.

Nice spot, Horrible Management
We had a great stay until we came home and were falsely accused of damaging the unit. It's a really nice spot and the photos show it well other than some of the damage that is there. But there was a noticeable amount of wear to the interior when we'd arrived, and today, I'm spending my morning arguing with Vacasa because now they are trying to charge me for some of this damage (which we clearly did not do). I understand that this reads like a crank wrote it, but this is the first time I've written a negative review in years of staying at guest rentals. A partial list of what was damaged and when we arrived includes: - A heavily chipped coffee table (they've blamed on us, we have photos showing it was not us); - A stained chair (they've blamed on us despite the stains being clearly old, this was also noted in a review on another website); - A broken pendant at the kitchen island; - The kitchen island counter was propped up on a table on the same side as that (which we did not touch), and I believe this is currently structurally supporting it. We didn't touch the table, for fear that the countertop would break if it was moved; - Two bedroom windows were inoperable; - The smoke detector at the ceiling was dangling by its wires (I have no idea how anyone even accessed that to damage it); - The sliding doors could barely open; - One screen door (the right as you face inwards) could almost not move. The one on the left had the screen broken out from the frame at the bottom; - A CMA alarm in the kitchen had a plastic clip broken so it was sitting askew on the outlet. - A broken electric kettle; None of this was a dealbreaker while we were there and we'd honestly enjoyed our time. But it is absurd that the managers didn't already have this documented and are now trying to scapegoat us. Hopefully, this list helps someone else in the future defend themselves from baseless charges from this seedy management company. Many other comments on this site and other rental sites note other problems with management, and I'd strongly urge you to take these seriously. If you do stay here, allow an hour your first night to document the existing damage in photos and videos. They've clearly deferred maintenance for too long and are now trying to recoup the built-up costs by falsely accusing and charging guests. Maybe they won't falsely accuse you of anything, but this with other reviews highlight a pattern of mismanagement.

Beautiful Space and View
Our family of 5 stayed for 3 nights. This cute cottage is next to a larger house, yet we felt we had adequate privacy. Sitting on 'our' porch, you can see the patio of the larger home but it is not close enough to hear conversations. This was fine for us. The driveway is steep as is common along this stretch of the coast, and the parking area is a bit tight. However, it accommodated our Nissan Pathfinder rental car ok. There is a separate entry path behind the main house from the parking area to the cottage. The house was clean and the kitchen well-appointed with all needed equipment plus a few items left behind by others such as coffee filters, olive oil, salt/pepper, & fire starters. There were 3 box fans, heated floors, and plenty of hot water for all to get a nice shower. The comfortable beds have a variety of memory foam mattresses. There was a folding cot which we did not use...our 11-year-old was happy sleeping on the sofa. The bedrooms have darkening shades, but the main room has no window coverings. Again fine for us, but the 11-year-old got to enjoy the morning sun, haha. We did not try out the available gas grill, but we did enjoy the fire pit (got wood at the grocery store). We would have enjoyed having ice trays for the freezer, but maybe it's a Covid thing that no one seems to provide them now. We would happily stay here again.

Great Location
The little house has an amazing view and sitting by the fire enjoying it was one of the highlights. There’s fun stuff to do in the area like boat rides, walks etc. For a small place our family of 4 still had ample room and everything we needed. I think, though that another small couch would have been better inside for 4 people to sit comfortably. You need to go down the path at the back of the main house to get to the cabin, which wasn’t entirely clear in check in instructions, unless I missed that. We had a lovely time and would love to explore the islands more.

My wife and I are VRBO owners..very disappointed in the amount of fees that Vacasa charges.. ..It is double the price of staying there. It is outrageous..no back up toilet paper and paper towels..had to run to the store to get more.no ice cube trays .no ice..front slider door is really tough to open.you have a fire pit..with no wood..tell the guest to bring there own..or furnish a little wood..dont be cheap no communication with the owner or Vacasa..when asked for help..remember in this industry..bad news travel fast..

Perfect Quiet Getaway
My partner and I were very happy to spend a long weekend in this cozy guest house. The view of the bay was wonderful and the guest house had just enough furnishing for the two of us to relax in any room. Neither my husband nor I are able to sleep on memory foam mattress, so it was a relief to find that one bed was memory foam and the other bed was a normal (for us) mattress. We were glad to have the choice. Speaking of choices, as a tea drinker, I very much appreciated a separate hot water kettle from the coffee maker. I enjoyed the landscaping around the guest house with lovely, big fig and apple and pear and plum trees too. We're from downtown Seattle area and our apt building is new, so neither of us realized what it meant to stay in the PNW in late Sep-early Oct so we had some early morning surprise encounters in the bathrooms with giant house spiders, but they weren't dangerous and easily relocated to elsewhere on the property. This wouldn't deter me from returning. Overall, this was just what we were looking for in a long weekend getaway.
