Great location near the scenic Romsdal gondola and near a number of good restaurants. The area is walkable and many excursions are book able nearby. Plentiful breakfast.

Staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Parking was a mess. No spots left so had to pay $18 for 18 hours and download an app. Not fun. But at least it was close to hotel. Basic room. Big complaint is no air conditioning. But that was the same at our Alesund hotel so maybe standard for Norway? Don’t like it as room was about 72 degrees and I like it 68. You could open window but no screens. But view from room was spectacular!!! View of water fjord train station (5min walk) and mountains. Gorgeous. Would stay again.

Beautiful location next to the Romsdaleggen gondola and hiking . Bathrooms were so small that shower door had to be open to sit on the toilet :) Great breakfast at the restaurant and delicious dinner .

Little room in a Grand Hotel
Gone was the friendly effusive welcome we experienced at previous hotels in Norway. Couldn't call it frosty - how about luke warm? The hotel may be Grand but there was nothing grand about the room. 'Poky' is the word in colloquial English - lets just say small. Especially the bathroom which had some strange system of shower doors which either meant you were in the shower OR using the loo (but not at the same time). Which is probably the case in practice but most hotel bathrooms are not this cramped.This was probably the most expensive hotel we stayed in, despite this. And dont expect a fjord view unless you are on a higher floor. The breakfast was very good and there was free parking in front of the hotel which is a bonus in Norway.

This is a very charming hotel in a lovely setting. It is basic but excellent. We had a spacious room with a balcony and awesome views. I highly recommend it.

A grand old building with a rich history - photo`s in the gallery show visits by the late Queen Prince Philip, and even Cliff Richard. Staff were extremely helpful, room was clean, bed very comfortable. Only criticism would be that the curtains are not blackouts so the midnight sun late May was a little disruptive. Murals of crazy rock climbers in the room were a reminder that the town is dedicated to sporty adventurers. The restaurant is excellent, which is fortunate as we visited just before the Summer season started and there was virtually nothing else open in town. Would definitely stay there again if we`re in the area,

Excellent location, amazing staff !! When we arrived at Oslo airport, my jetlagged bf put in the wrong hotel and we ended up 4 hours away!! The staff were so helpful and guided us with the quickest route and even called us back (when we got disconnected in a tunnel). Breakfast was delicous - very fresh lovely breakfast buffet. The staff went above and beyond - excellent service!! We highly recommend taking the Ramsdalen gondala which had breathtaking views!!
