Santa Cruz family trip
The staff at check-in were consistently nice and helpful. The hotel was clean. We enjoyed the hot tub and pool . the grounds looked well Kept up with a beautiful Koi pond although the restaurant side should have had more help. They were definitely struggling to keep up and the second night we ended up leaving. We were on a 45 minute waitlist and when we got there, we had to wait another 10 minutes or so and then we finally gave up and went back to our room, It was a great trip and close to the beach to the beach. We tried to ride our bikes, but there was too much traffic.

There were sticky spills throughout the suite that were not cleaned. When we asked for them to clean it, there was still some stickiness left. They also reported nothing was there, but clearly there was clear sticky stuff in certain areas. And when we had dinner, we waited patiently, it was busy. When it was our turn to get seated the maitre’d told us to sit ourselves coz he had to do something and said oh yea and we don’t have menus. Just really unprofessional and poor customer service.

Everything was your typical 3 star. Only real issues were in the bathroom. It smelled like mildew, the shower could have been cleaner, and they only provided 1 towel, 1 washcloth, 1 hand towel.

We have stayed here several times, but this is the first time since it became a Hilton Property. It has always been quiet, comfortable, and clean, and it still is. The downsides are the exorbitant restaurant prices and the reduced amenities. But what else is new in post-pandemic America?

The staff and property were fine and we enjoyed our stay. The real problem was with Expedia not being honest with the total cost of the room. The price we ended up paying was higher than the advertised price posted on Expedia's website. Talking to the hotel staff about this change was not a surprise. They said that they've had such discrepancies before with other customers using Expedia and other "discount" travel agents. Be careful that you are getting the discount you're expecting when using these discount travel agencies.
