Good, but could be better
Aramon is a delightful little town close to Avignon but still with the character of the traditional French village: friendly merchants, including a great bistro. It is also centrally located with easy access to all the great spots of Provence. The house itself is quite new and of typical construction for the area. The owner lists "air conditioning" available, but not the traditional a/c (forced air). Instead, water pipes run in the tile flooring: hot water in the winter and very cold water in the summer. Great in the winter, when heat rises, but not ideal in she summer when our feet were always frozen but the rest of the body was too hot. Portable fans circulating the cold air would help a lot. The owners said they had never lived in the villa and it shows through little things: no soap dish in the shower and no shower curtains, which means soap, shampoo, etc. had to stay on the floor and the bathroom was inundated after every shower. There were no instructions as to how the a/c/ heat system is regulated, or how the stove, the dishwasher and the washing machine work---little, but annoying, things, for sure, but no one arriving for a short holiday wants to spend time figuring out how to fix dinner, wash the dishes and the clothes. The owner told me that she is preparing a booklet to remedy these shortcomings. When that is done, the house will be the perfect place to stay and enjoy an evening aperitif, sitting on the terrace looking at the mighty Rhone River.
