Wow! Eyal and the whole (tiny) gingerbread hotel and restaurant was a highlight of our stay in Costa Rica. Eyal is truly a man with a genius for cooking—basically, imagine if Anthony Bourdain operated a restaurant and bed and breakfast, i.e., this isn’t the kind of place you ask for “more or less spicey”, you get what you get and what you get is amazing. Both dinners we had there (with my wife and kids) were arguably the best meals i have ever experienced. And eating and staying here is truly an experience—the birds, the howler monkeys, and Eyal himself, all come together to make this certainly the most unique place we’ve ever stayed. we were assigned the wine cellar room (?casita) which defies description in this format, but trust me it’s unique, comfortable and memorable, every touch is custom. if you don’t awaken spontaneously to the sound of howler monkeys and copious copious birds, set your alarm for 5:30 am, it’s worth it.
