We spent one night in Ascona. Our Hotel room had the most beautiful view we've ever had (it was a lake view room). Apart from the balcony, the room was a normal hotel room, nothing special but also nothing to complain about. Everything was clean and we were overall super happy with our stay. We would have stayed another night if our plans permitted. Parking is unfortunately not at the hotel though - it's in a public parking garage that's not directly next to the hotel.

Overnight stay
A very nice hotel situated on the lakeside. Well decorated and in good order. Checkin was quick and easy with friendly staff. You get a 10% reduction on your meal bill if you dine in the restaurants below, excellent food. Public parking can be found beneath a shop only a five minute walk away.

Lovely week end stay in Al Faro.Located by the lake it is one hotel we have stayed many times and will hopefully continue to visit in future. No frills but good quality value for money!

Relaxing week end stay
Al Faro by the lake has an old world charm with modernised rooms. We have stayed here several times and prefer the rooms with balcony with lake views. The stays at Al Faro has always been very nice

Location is A1 and overall it is not bad. Front desk was very helpful and supportive.Mattress ok but bed frame was terrible.You want to make sure you book lake view because that is what you pay for. No elevator with lake view rooms. Otherwise better value elsewhere if you don't need promenade location. If a couple weekend getting away for nice romance then fine (if they fix the bed frames, not taking into consideration consumation activities). Ascona is quite small so most places are 5-10 min walk to promenade and restaurants. Check google map.

Great weekend getaway
It was a fantastic place to stay at. We used Ascona as our base of operations to drive out to lots of different places each day. The hotel has a parking service for 15 CHF per day at an underground parking 5 min walk away. The wifi is free and has a strong signal (strong enough to stream Netflix and iTunes movies). The breakfast was delicious and varied. The beds are comfortable and warm (only suggestion: ask for a second pillow if you need it). The room is sparsely decorated but it has everything you need. The bathroom is modern and clean, very hot water which is great after a long day. It's worth paying a little extra to have a room with a balcony view so you can sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. That said, you can also pop downstairs to the bar/restaurant that looks onto the piazza / quay too. The hotel staff all speak English and German, so even if you try your basic Italian, they will reply in something you can speak :)

last minute getaway to Ascona
It was great. Last minute decision to stay in Ascona due to bad weather at home. Booked hotel at best price whilst on train to Tessin. Confirmation within minutes and quality of accomodation, location and friendliness of staff just as as advertised.

Hotel an bester Lage an der Piazza
Hotel an sehr guter Lage, direkt an der Piazza. Sehr nettes Personal. Unser Zimmer war klein, auf dem Balkon hatten gerade zwei Stühle Platz, dafür war die Aussicht auf die Piazza und den See traumhaft. Entsprechend hörte man - bei offenem Fenster - die Geräuschkulisse der Menschen auf der Piazza. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig. So ist es jeder Person überlassen, ob sie die tolle Aussicht mehr bewertet als das eher kleine Zimmer und die Geräuschkulisse. Für uns war die Aussicht mehr wert.

Hotel an bester Lage in Ascona
Das Hotel befindet sich an top Lage in Ascona. Wenn man davon profitieren möchte, unbedingt ein Zimmer mit Seeblick buchen. Die Zimmer sind eher einfach eingerichtet. Im Sommer an heissen Tagen mit der Südlage, wäre eine Airconditionning sehr wünschenswert. Frühstück bietet für ein 3.5 Stern Hotel einiges. Der eher hohe Preis lässt sich einzig mit der Lage rechtfertigen, womit das Preis Leistung Verhältnis aufs Zimmer bezogen eher als schlecht bezeichnet werden muss. Trotzdem würden wir das Hotel für spezielle Anlässe, wie z.B. das 1. August Feuerwerk, wieder buchen.
