Check in was a disaster. We booked with travel friends, called to say we’d be checking in about 9pm, got here about that time to chaos in the lobby. They’re short staffed, didn’t have rooms ready, kept having to go to the back to talk to the manager, said they couldn’t help bc we booked w Expedia. Our friends didn’t even get their room- were told the maids called out and they didn’t have rooms avail. The front desk employee asked us if our friends could “hang out on our couch in our room”…when pressed for how long, it was already 5 hours past the time their room should have been ready, the worker said she didn’t know then later said they wouldn’t have a room for them at all. Our room has mold stains around the sink, filthy carpet, and the most uncomfortable bed we’ve ever slept in. Our friends had to find the last room at another hotel. All are sold out or we would have moved too.

Loved the view off the deck. We watched the boats all day and then the fishermen returning with their Steelheads & Chinook Salmon. Sea lions to watch too. Walkable to pretty much anything and lots of food trucks. Older place could use updating, but affordable and great for our needs.

Pass it up

Great location and friendly staff. Don’t trust the photos though. Property seems like it once was a wonderful place, but had not been maintained or updated in many years. Balcony offered a beautiful view of the harbor but was infested with spiders and very rundown. Bed was clean and comfortable but carpets were disgusting and covered in stains. Toilet had not been brushed and had leftover ?? In the bowl. Grout in bathroom had brown ??? Near the toilet. The kid of room where you need to wear shoes inside and feel the need to shower as soon as you get home. And breakfast was a joke, just some cereal and toast. I’d pass on this place and stay somewhere that doesn’t offer the great location and balcony but that’s clean. Not worth the price tag to stay here!

Room wasn’t ready until late. Included breakfast was hit or miss about whether they could even do it. I was told property was due to be demolished sometime in the future so they are lackadaisical about upkeep. Room was pretty nice (we had reserved a pet room and there were spots on the rug but it did not smell. Bathroom was clean and shower was nice as was the bed.

There's not enough space to explain the disaster and chaos we had with this place. But I'll try to sum it up. Reserved 5 rooms to accomodate my big family weeks ahead. Drove hrs to get to the place by check-in time of 4pm just to be told none of our rooms were ready. We were told it will take a few hours so we passed time to go eat since we were hungry just to come back and c was told the same again. Tired and irritated from the long drive, we still gave the benefit of the doubt and took the guy's suggestion to kill time at the closest shopping area that was a few miles away. So we did. The rest of our party got to the place and called to tell us that none of our rooms are ready and there are others who were trying to check-in dealing with the same thing. It was already late with the sun going down. It was chaotic and the front desk guy didn't even hesitate to cancel and refund us. He told us they were short staff and it will take hours to get any rooms done after we already waited hours. We had to scramble in finding any place that could accommodate our big party and we ended up driving a couple of hours away and end up checking in after 12am. I will never book at Astoria Riverwalk Inn again.

This is a very unique hotel. If you like hanging out with a bunch of drunk fishermen this is your place. Otherwise grin and bear it. The guy at the front desk was very friendly and did a great job considering the number of people checking in. Breakfast was good. Room was comfortable and had a nice view, but with the docks getting going early in the morning it was hard to sleep in.

Wow. This place has seen better days. The website makes it look like a 10 when really, its a 4. My standards aren't to high but for a price of roughly $250 a night, I was expecting the hotel to look and feel like their website. I've/we've (maybe even you) been catfished. Pros: Rooms are spacious and all have some sweet views with a private balcony. Rooms have a small coffee pot, mini fridge with small freezer to refreeze freezer packs, microwave and hairdryer. Sitting inside on the chairs and enjoying the views are nice. Breakfast hours are generous between 6:30 and 10 am. Location is convenient. Water pressure was decent and the hand soap in the dispenser in the bathroom smells really nice. Cons: The property is radically understaffed (employees work hard, they get a 10). I waited 37 minutes to check in. One employee. Dozens of us waiting. The rooms are not just dated, but hinging on gross. There's obvious water damage in the restroom (baseboard), the carpet is dingy and stained and balcony needs a serious pressure wash. It would have been lovely to sit outside but the chairs/small table were filthy. There is a persistent fly problem so keep those doors closed. I'm guessing there's an ant problem because of the multiple ant baits in the room under the desk. The chairs for enjoying that view are well worn and stained/slightly funky, musty smell. They need a deep cleaning or need to be replaced. I was so looking forward to staying here but couldn't return.
