I was in Austin in November for a conference. I made reservation at Rodeway Inn for two nights, but stayed for just the first night. The least said about the hotel, the better. It is not a place I will recommend to anyone to stay for even a night. And please, do not be deceived by the pictures you see on the hotel's website. The place is not properly kept--too much trash and rats on the compound, rooms are filthy and smell so bad (I changed rooms three times), insects/bugs all over the place. Yuck, I hated the bed. I put my clothes on the white sheet to sleep the night I checked in. I spent my second night in a different hotel but came back to Rodeway Inn the next morning to check out and get back my $50 deposit.
There was a female receptionist (I didn't get her name) who was super sweet. She was very courteous and made my three room change possible the night I checked in. A guy (late 30s to mid 40s) took over the next morning, and I understand he is the manager of that facility. I am not sure why he's in the hospitality business. This guy was so rude and showed no concern about my ordeals the night before.
This is not a place I will recommend to anyone. The facility should be shut down, if management will not do its job of maintaining and keeping the place clean.
