I decided to book an impulsive weekend getaway for my wife and I. After entering a few basic filters at VRBO but not knowing exactly where I wanted to take her, this cottage at Windy Hill Lavender Farm popped up. I looked at the pictures and thought, "Perfect"! I read a few dozen reviews, and they all said the same thing: Peaceful, pristine, immaculate property. I booked it and wish there were even better adjectives to describe our experience. This was one of the most delightful weekends we've experienced in all of our years together! The property is stunning. Rolling hills, a babbling brook, mature trees, tall silos all adorn this working farm. Kate's gardens are absolutely gorgeous. We were about two weeks early for the lavender harvest, but the bushes are beginning to bloom. The smell of lavender in my palms after running my hands over the stalks was a simple experience I've never enjoyed before. It reinforced how wonderful life is when we enjoy its simplest pleasures. We first met Kate while she was picking strawberries in one of her gardens. She was quick to give us as many berries as she had picked. So sweet, so hospitable. We ended both days of our stay around a fire inside the corn crib. The last night Chris and Kate were able to join us for an hour or so. They are beautiful, humble people. On our way out, Kate left my wife a yellow peony, knowing how much she loves them. If you are deciding whether to stay here, by all means do so. This place is phenomenal!
