Amazing spot along Loch Leven in Scotland. I stayed here just a night on the road from Loch Lomond into the Highlands.
This spot feels historic, without a doubt. There are sitting rooms with gorgeous decor, a wonderfully friendly staff, and a great restaurant.
This is one of those spots where you can check in, and just enjoy the space and not worry much about feeling like you need to find food, etc…
I spent time before dinner in one of the sitting areas, doing a little work. then enjoyed some fish and chips with fresh, smashed “mushy” peas. And in the morning their breakfast was expansive and filling.
I wander along the water and took in views of the loch and bridge. I think if I’m through this part of Scotland again I’d book a room with a view.
Definitely would want to stay here again.
A beautiful setting located right on Loch Linnhe/Loch Leven. We stayed for one night on a trip from Inverness to Glasgow. A perfect place to rest, relax and dine. Be prepared to carry your luggage up stairs to your room, no elevator available. The restaurant provided a great evening meal as well as a tasty breakfast buffet. Highly recommend this hotel!
Nicely appointed room with a view of the loch, reception and restaurant/bar staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
The restaurant was excellent, and would highly recommend eating there.
I enjoyed my stay, the only down points for me were that the floor of the room above us was so noisy every time anyone walked around it was borderline annoying, even considering it is an old building! I’m not very fussy but the room could have been a little cleaner in the more difficult to reach spots
Because this is in an older building the floors are very creaky so we got woken up early by people moving around and the staff behind cleaning around 8am while talking very loudly
We enjoyed our stay at this quaint hotel. We were traveling from Glasgow to Portree and used this location as a stopover. It was perfect for what we needed, although the next towns are a bit further away. The hotel staff was super friendly while checking us in and booked us for dinner and for our complimentary breakfast in the morning. We went to our room, which was cute and very clean. It was small, but that is to be expected! The restaurant in the hotel was phenomenal and the wait staff were amazing. It was a great dining experience. Same carried over for breakfast. The selection was great and we filled up before our hike to Steall Falls that morning! It was a great stay for us!
The building is OLD and needs a fair amount of updating and repair. Bath faucets were impossible to regulate between cold and sculding hot. Bed lumpy, floors uneven. Restaurant pricey and not very good food.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The food wasn’t as good as the last time we were here. And the breakfast buffet was luke warm and a bit dry The staff were lovely though . It is still hard to get heavy suitcases up stairs . I understand that the combination of Brexit and Covid has caused staff shortages but the overall managerial standard has slipped.
Beautiful room with a lake view. Includes breakfast as well which was delicious. Would highly recommend Yum Yum Burger food truck just across the bridge. A great guy offering great food for a great price.
This was my second stop out of 5 hotels booked this week, I stayed in the single room which was perfect for me. It was nice and clean and the little bathroom with a skylight was a quirky touch - it had everything I needed. The staff were lovely and polite. I had a lovely walk around the golf course next door at the evening which was nice. The food was gorgeous both dinner and breakfast. The views are stunning and made for the most picturesque sunset! It was very interesting to read up on the information provided about the hotel and the creaky stairs! So cool
Would stay again if I was passing by again.
wonderful stay, great experience with a breathless view

Great views, mediocre experience
The location is the best part about this hotel. Perfectly situated right by waterfront views. The bed was very uncomfortable with the mattress sinking in the middle. It wasn’t clear that we would get charged for any requests. I put a request for bathrobes and slippers in room when booking on hotels.com and at checkout was charged £50 for it- crazy! Wasn’t told about this charge, they were already in the room upon arrival and then just told upon checkout I needed to pay for having put the request in on my booking. It was taken care of by the front office after some discussion upon departure but not a pleasant experience for being charged for something most hotels provide and without ever being advised there’s an extra fee.
Breakfast was just ok. We weren’t told we needed to sign up for a breakfast slot and by the time we got there they ran out of croissants.
The evening tea and coffee in the lounge was a nice touch as were the board games the kids loved.
Felt like a castle in a small quaint town. The greeting from the beginning with a welcome drink was special. The windows open to allow the cool Scottish breeze into the room. The breakfast was delicious.

hotel Ballachulish has lovely updated guest rooms with comfortable beds and terrific baths. Tge check in procedure was pleasant and very easy. We didn’t have dinner so I can’t speak to that but breakfast was very nice. The views from some rooms and the dining room are extraordinary.
