Let's just say not all Hampton Inns are created equal and this is one of them. The check-in was horrible and the room was dingy. I would avoid this place in the future if I can help it.

The hotel suite was just what we needed. The staff was friendly and the buffet breakfast was satisfying. However, I did choose this hotel over others because it had an indoor pool. I asked if I could use the pool while I waited for my room to be ready. I was told I could not because I needed my room key to access the pool. That makes sense from a safety perspective but it's not very customer friendly. You may want to reconsider this policy. Someone could have easily let me in the pool area. Housekeeping's office was attached to the pool area. When I did get to the pool there was definitely chlorine in the water but the pool was in need of a Deep Cleaning. The walls and floor of the pool had been neglected. The temperature of the water needed to slightly warmer. Lastly, it would be helpful to have bigger pool towels.

The rooms are nicer compared to other hotels for the price that was paid! The bedding was comfortable and I slept like a baby for once. It was fairly quiet during my stay. I found it convenient that the shower/tub had a handle on the wall to assist with standing or sitting. I'll be coming back in the future!

Excellent except for the Wi-Fi
Nearly everything was excellent. The service was top-notch -- great people working there, from the front desk to the breakfast crew. I only took off a star because the Wi-Fi was awful - spotty all the days we were there. Couldn't get any real work done without using the hotspot on my phone.

Temperature of the hallway
While at the Hampton Inn, Columbia South Fort Meade our room was comfortable and clean. As was the lobby. The only area of concern was the hall way coming out of our rooms. It was degrees warmer and quite uncomfortable. Not sure if this was a cost cutting factor. However, it made it quite uncomfortable.

The price was right and the room was huge. The key cards were down so we had to be individually walked to the room by staff each time to be let in. They were quick and nice about it. There were no tissues in my room but I wasn’t going to leave to deal. Overall I felt clean and comfortable there.

Poor 1st impression.
No clerk during the daytime visit to the hotel. Waited 15 min and then left. Checkin at 4:00pm, ripped bedspread cover was a poor impression, especially when you’re holding a deposit. Advised the front desk, but the bedspread remained for the 3-night stay. No pillow on the rollout bed. Used a pillow from the king bed and just slept 1 pillow short.

They promised same day delivery laundry service if you got your item to the front desk by 8 AM. Didn’t happen. Bed linens must have been for a queen, because they sure didn’t fit the king I slept on. Breakfast was pedestrian at best. And the shower was abysmal, designed badly.
