Situated in the heart of the town, the canal-side property is conveniently located near Banbury Cross, Castle Quay shopping center, and local transportation hubs. The receptionist provided exceptional customer service, offering valuable information and assistance.

Beautiful old building. Only a shower and no bath in our room which was a bit disappointing. It got a bit cold but we were provided with a portable heater which warmed things up nicely. One member of the front desk staff was unfriendly and unhelpful but change of shift meant a swap to someone else who was perfectly nice and helpful - what a difference it makes to how you feel about your stay!

This Hotel firstly has charm, is quirky, beautiful gardens, well located and full of Oak Beams and oak panelling. The Staff are friendly and smart but that’s where it stops with the positives unfortunately. First disappointment was the bar, with no draught products as they had no gas and hadn’t for a while! Secondly there is no lift and the lovely oak beamed bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, but no warning of the climb with your cases and when you’re 68 and have arthritis it wasn’t easy, so a check from the Hotel on allocation might be advisable? Finally the Breakfast, which was buffet style, but it wasn’t hot, due to the Bain Marie only operating with hot lamps and not the hot plate, when it needs both, to keep it hot! It wasn’t at its legal temperature of over 63c and other guests complained and it got taken off on one day altogether! The plates had signs saying hot but they were cold as well as it wasn’t working. The sausages came out aenemic and weren’t hot to start with either ! All this food is supposed to be regularly temperature checked by law and it obviously isn’t and my partner has been ill ever since, plus they regularly ran out of items before they were replenished so your lukewarm breakfast got even colder before the items arrived when staff said 2 minutes and it took 10! Quite a few complained during our 3 days there, so for a 3star establishment it’s totally not acceptable to risk people’s health by not following Food Safety Legislation!

No hand soap in the toilet, no toilet paper, thin walls, no coat hangers, cold food. There was a long and loud altercation between a couple in a room close by, but there was no phone in the room to call reception. Called reception from my phone 5 times for a duration of 15 minutes, no answer. Lady at reception was lovely.

We had requested a lower floor room as we were just getting out of the hospital. She said she had us up one short flight of stairs, wrong, all the way to the top floor without a lift. Got to the room and it smelled like wet dog, no remote and one towel for two of us. Back to the front desk where she just said "I tried to get you on a lower floor", she knew where she had put us. She did send a house person up that brought a remote and was able to get the window open. This property is in a terrible need of renovation

Rooms could benefit from some TLC but great staff
Beautiful building with a lovely reception and dining room. Great staff but the room was in alright condition with the light falling out the ceiling and wallpaper peeling off. Bed was very comfy and the bathroom was very clean. Overall, the staff and cleanliness make this an average stay.

Unfortunately the hotel had no lifts which when staying on the 3rd floor is an issue (I should have checked),No light bulb in my bedside light. The bar said it closed at 11pm but we arrived at 10.40pm and it was already closed due to an older couple being drunk and falling over, the said older couple went outside for a cigarette. We were sitting in the foyer and a waitress opened the door to talk to the drunk couple letting in the cold and cigarette smoke, when we mentioned this we were rudely told that "we are bringing them back in" which did not happen for another 5 minutes or so. The breakfast was farcical following a smoke alarm which went off at 7.30am for no more than 10 seconds the entire hotel arrived at breakfast within half an hour or so. Firstly no orange juice as they had ran out? its breakfast go buy some. No tea which when I mentioned it the waitress weighed the tea urn as if I was lying? No hot food was out and as soon as it came out it was gone so we waited for over an hour and a half to get some hot food. at 9.55am we were informed breakfast was closing at 10am and at 9.58am the breakfast buffet was finally all out and cleared away at 10am. You could not write this very unorganised

Property looks ok from front of building.. but inside its very dated with dirty carpets and stains and scuffs on walls. Room was the same, stained carpets and the bathroom could do with better cleaning. No towels in room when we arrived. Carpets in stairwell are held together with tape!! Breakfast had limited choice and had to wait for hot food to be refilled... even once served it was luke warm and only cold plates available. Dirty tablecloths.

Was a lovely room and fabulous building, live the squeeky floor boards and beds very comfortable. Only downside was no heating and it was cold. Heater supplied in wardrobe along with a fan, but small heater for a big room. Did not make much of an impact. Im sure maybe next month the hrating will be on. All in all loved the two night stay here.

AVOID AVOID AVOID
Never before have I wanted to leave a hotel so soon, where do I start, after check in we had no milk, coffee, sugar or toilet roll. Went and got them, then found no remote control for TV. Breakfast - £10 each, I've had better in a bus station cafe. Food cold, what was put out anyway, seemed they just put it out when someone complained, plate heater wasn't working, apparently heating isn't switched on until November, staff rude and why oh why would you put carrots on the breakfast menu. The room was filthy, bathroom disgusting with rust, cracked tiles, black grout and window paint peeling, all evidence provided to the receptionist who handled our complaint well. Felt so sorry for her though as others were complaining. One star review is only because of the receptionist Kayleigh and the fact I can't score zero. I've stayed in better hostels, the front facade is spectacular the back is like an inner city block of 1960s flats or a pensioners home. Don't be conned out of your money and if Hotels.com can, they should remove it.
