Hotel is in a great location but overall the place is tired and in need of a refurb and a thorough clean. Staff were friendly enough but beed to know not to query a same sex couple having a double bed! Its 2024 not 1954.

It was very central and convenient, its looking a little tired and needs updating, the staff were very helpful and polite especially the lady at reception, breakfast was fine with plenty to choose from although our first one wasn't overly hot, nice to have free parking but would be very tight squeeze to get to it if you had a large vehicle, should we go to Banbury again we would stay here Graham & Debbie 🙂

Whately Hall suited me for my visit to not only Banbury but also to attend a meeting nearby on Thursday evening. I feel the Hotel is beginning to look a bit tired but it met my expectations and the room was comfortable. We have stayed here before and enjoyed our stay.

we stayed here 7 years ago and this has run down badly in that time. The rooms are dreary and the carpet was very dirty. It is also extremely noisy if you are on the road side and have to open the windows when it is warm

The hotel was a little dated, and I had some very noisy neighbours but the room was clean, however I did not received any cleaning service for the first two days of my stay. For the amount paid, it was very useful and easy access to Oxford where I was working.

A little run down but still a lovely place to stay
Room was sufficient for our needs, the bed was lovely and comfortable. Some parts need a bit of attention and are run down but it didn't impact greatly on our stay. The breakfast was amazing. Cannot fault anything in the bar or restaurant. Staff were lovely.

Enjoyed our 3 day stay at this Whatley Hall hotel. Just a few problems 1) TV remote did not work on arrival. 2) The bathroom basin did not hold the water in the basin . Reported problems to reception and quickly sorted out the problems. Breakfast good , but could do with plate warmer as plates very cold as also cups very cold cooling off the tea and breakfast very quickly.

Charming very old building with a lot of character and history inside and out. Warm welcome at check in. Our room was clean with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and had a great shower. Very enjoyable evening meal, well presented. Plaice for me, cooked to perfection with a great sauce. Beef Wellington for my partner, which he throughly enjoyed. Bar and restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. Must say found drink prices high!! £10.00 for a Gin!!! This is not in line with other hotels. Breakfast offered a good selection of hot food. Coffee from a large flask was bitter, obviously it had been stood around for some time. Lovely to read about the history of the hotel on the print outs. Unfortunately, most areas are in need of a good clean and upgrade. Lots of dust and cobwebs. All glass was either smeary or dirty. The seating areas in reception had definitely seen better days. Window panes in the evening restaurant had blown. We understand the hotel is under new ownership and going through some renovation work, however basic housekeeping is a must. Check Out was very brusque. The lady could barely be bothered to look up. Did not even enquire about our stay. Just took the key.

Lovely old building and great staff, but has certainly seen better days. Could do with better double glazing and a lick of paint. Otherwise no issues.

Terrible stay
Our room was dirty, the carpet was all stained, there was a metre circle mouldy leak in the bathroom ceiling the above shower. The windows had thick dirt and mould around the handles to open, needless to say did not touch wallpaper was hanging off above the bed clearly damp in the room, no central light, managed with 2 bedside lamps and desk light. Despite complaining o the next morning, an attempt was made to clean the windows not very successful. Daresay will not return shocking weekend away

Nice hotel, with parking behind the hotel. It’s a tight squeeze between two buildings but does just about fit a large car through. A nice breakfast and for the price we were pleasantly happy. My main gripe was there was a lot of short black hairs all down the bath. I only stayed one night and decided not to have a shower. No bin in the room, just a tiny bathroom bin so had to leave larger rubbish (water bottles etc) on the side, not too bad for one night stay.

The old building is in dire need of refreshing. It is in a very tired and is scruffy in parts. Very limited menu . Some staff seemed lacking in basic training . The restaurant is very limited and the menu basic. Complimentary tea and cofee in the room but no milk? Had to request it from reception. A good location, but the whole setup needs attention

On arrival we found that the TV didn’t work, there was no milk in the room for tea and coffee, the bedside lamp didn’t work and the toilet seat was broken. The bathroom wasn’t terribly clean - see image. I was staying with my young child but there was quite a lot of noise from surrounding rooms too.
