Pros:
- the room appeared clean
- walking distance to Banff restaurants, bars, shopping
- on-site free parking
- very friendly staff
- room was serviced daily (basic refresh)
Cons:
- major wear and tear, outdated
- could hear every footstep and toilet flush from the room above us
- the window A/C unit was so loud when it was turning off and on all night that I had to sleep with ear plugs
- VERY expensive based on the quality of the room and hotel
The bottom line: the Red Carpet Inn is the equivalent of a small town motel. But at the end of the day, you are in Banff and all you should be doing in your room is sleeping and showering. Despite the cons, I WOULD stay here again based on the location and the price (again, very expensive, but less expensive than other Banff hotels, and the room was clean and comfortable). If you’re picky or have particularly high standards, you need to pick another hotel but know that you’re going to pay a lot more.
