The Myth-Sud Sathorn is a hidden gem in more than one ways. The property itself is in an excellent location if you are a budget conscious tourist - close to BTS, Taksin Pier, and multiple road connections (taxi, tuktuk, bus, etc etc). Over and above this, the family who runs this heritage hotel is a hidden gem in itself. They shared their warm welcome and pride in their heritage hotel with us and made our stay extra special. We were apprehensive about the reports of noise from the road way (which is indeed close by). But the two sets of windows (both of them are double glazed) make this a non issue. The rooms are exceptionally clean, the breakfast service is excellent (ask for the vegetarian menu if you don’t eat meat) and the family is always on hand via WhatsApp and in person to help organize trips and tours and practical advice on seeing and getting around Bangkok. I would strongly recommend this hotel to all my near and dear ones. Wishing the family happy tidings for the new year and much success with maintaining their heritage in such an elegant and welcoming manner. Thank you ! K&P (from Málaga and India)

This is a Charming family-run Hotel. English friendly and very helpful with finding things in the neighborhod and such. Clean, orderly, recently remodeled - I liked it a lot. Actually moved to this hotel from a larger Hotel 300 feet away. The other Hotel had mold/air quality issues with their air conditioning which was in all three rooms of our group and many immediately came down with sore throats and respitory complaints - classic stuff you see in various hotel reviews in Thailand. The Myth-Sud was great! One day/night and I was back to normal. Many of my friends went home sick on the plane. Only thing someone might consider is road noise. The rooms do face the road but I felt it more like white noise. They do provide ear plugs on your pillow like mints. So if you're super sensitive maybe it's not the right choice. While the Sathorn area is the only place I stayed both times in Bangkok, I enjoyed it. Price wise it's a little less than other areas and this hotel in particular was a straight shot to the BTS and Sathorn Pier/water Taxis (5 minutes) which are a good ways to get around, as well as tuktuks. I would definitely stay there again. The price is right and the people are great. As I checked out at 3:30 am I don't know about the breakfast but I'm sure it's just fine. Just remember none of these hotels, at any price point, are our western style Hyatt Hilton Marriott - and that's the point of travel anyway, isn't it?!

Easy choice in Bangkok
Great place to stay. I know some people complained about the noise. I, personally, wasn’t bothered by it at all. It was a nice and unique hotel with the most wonderful breakfast! I would definitely stay again.

Review from a former Bed and Breakfast owner
My stay at The Myth was great, just what I needed! The hotel is a five minute walk from the five star hotels( at many times the cost), the sky train, the river and boat transit, eating places, and a grocery store ((within which are coffee shops, bakeries, spirits, and eateries). The noise from the road and freeway just outside was shocking at first, but silenced by the earplugs provided; no problem sleeping in the comfortable bed. The lovely family that ran this bed and breakfast/ hotel had such helpful advice plus a great sense of humour, that I felt totally safe and comfortable as a solo traveller! It was a great place for groups as well as there was a comfortable room with several couches on the main floor to sit in.

Lovely historic hotel
Amazing historic hotel with such a wonderful family running the hotel. Excellent area as it was convienent to boat pier, BTS train and buses. There is a big mall one block away and many street food stalls around. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay as you can choose between western or Thai breakfast menu items. The hotel also offers a complimentary tour of the building which was very interesting. Would definitely stay here again in the future. Loved our stay!

A beautiful historical hotel
Very friendly host who gave us a tour of the hotel and shared its history. The hotel is antique and preserved in its original state. That said, the beds are clean and new. In fact, they are still wrapped in plastic and a thick mattress protector is used to make sleeping on them comfortable.

The Myth of Sud Sathorn Lives
I wanted to spend my time and money out and about, and stay someplace modest, comfortable, that we could get to from the airport, and explore the city from, either by train or boat, avoiding where possible Bangkok’s notorious traffic and taxies. My preferences were greatly influenced by a New York Times article “Bangkok’s River of Kings,” which was sub-titled: Bangkok’s long-neglected river is returning to its glory days — and remains the heart of the city. A must read about the significance of the Chao Phraya River. The hotel is within several blocks of both the BTS Skytrain station and the Central Sathorn pier, which is the departure dock for all points on the bustling Chao Phraya River. For five days, we ruled the city by rail and river, never walking more than a couple of blocks from our home away from home. After completing your booking, the first confirmation that you have made the right choice comes from a personal Email from “Jib,” a real person and apparently the guiding light of The Myth vision. The personal welcome message includes detailed local information describing and illustrating with photographs and maps how to make your way from all points to your destination at The Myth. Its entry is so modest and unassuming that you well might miss it without such careful instructions. They ask about your plans, and gladly offer suggestions for your day. They volunteered to make reservations and even researched requests for special holiday observances.

Great stay innBangkok
We had a last minute reservation because the place were we originaly booked (Glur Bangkok) overbooked the place, so we went to The Myth, what a luck we had to go there!!! Great hotel in an old refurbished house and family business aswell. The room and bathroom were clean and very comfortable. They provide all the amenities you could need (good working AC, fridge, each day a bottle of water and toiletteries), the only thing we missed was a water kettle. The breakfast was awesome! You can choose from a menu with western and thai options, and you can order as much as you want, beside they cooked excellent. The location is perfect to explore Bangkok, less than 5 minutes to the bus stop and 5 minutes from the subway station and Sathorn pier, from where you can reach the main sights of the city (Wat Pho, Palace, Wat Arun, etc.). The best of all was the staff, they are polite, helpful and very kind! Do not search anymore and book here!

Easily accessible hotel that is great for tourists
I really enjoyed my experience at Myth-Sud Sathorn. It's a great value for the money with very friendly and accommodating staff. The building has a neat history (which they provide you with a room placard to explain) and has neat features, such as a window in the bathroom...into the bedroom! I loved that! HA! The location is fantastic for someone who is visiting typical tourist sites. Easy access to the BTS and the ferries, which is all you arguably need to see everything. I very much enjoyed my stay.

Nice hotel, friendly staff, but too noisy for us
Nice hotel and friendly staff. The noise from the street is an issue for us unfortunately. It is just too loud. It would be great, if the backyard was open to guests. Then we could have sat there and relax.

Quaint heritage hotel near the Chao Phraya.
Hotel is in a very old heritage building. Lots of things to see in the vicinity. Near to Sathron Pier where you can hop on and take the river boat along the Chao Phraya River. However, the hotel is located just beside a busy road. Since the building is an old heritage building, little/no sound proofing to the rooms. Sound can be unbearable for some. I was able to sleep with the sound, but they also provide ear plugs for those who can't stand the noise.

Came several times, already been like my second home. every time i came to bangkok, i choose to come back to this hotel. the hotel is actually modified from a building which is over 120 years old. so you should be about to find it quite fasinating with the appearance as well as the style. besides, the location is easy to find. it is just across the bts station, Saphan Taksin. And you can also access the Asiatique Night Market by the free shuttle boat at the ferry port just beside the bts station. you can find 7-11, lots of restaurants/bars, and a shopping mall, which has a big supermarket closes at 12am, very close to the hotel. the staffs are always super nice. and they are easy to communicate as they speak perfect English. the breakfast is fabulous. the room is suprisingly huge, comfy and tidy. the only down side i could carp is that the washrooms lack ventilation. but you actually don't really call it a flaw because it is understandable that the owners want to preserve the old building as much as they can. Other than that I can't even find a bad word for such amazing hotel.
