We recently returned to Indiana after a 6 night stay. We are a family of 4 (two boys, 8 & 10) plus a set of grandparents. The cottage is a few years old and it’s been very well maintained. I was impressed by how clean the cottage was when we arrived. We ate breakfast and a few dinners at the cottage, and we found the kitchen to have everything we needed. We made a stop at Walmart in Ellsworth prior to making the trip across the bridge to Mount Desert Island, but we were thankful for the nearby IGA grocery store when a member of our party needed some last minute items.
After dinner or breakfast at the cottage, we enjoyed going down to the tidal inlet to see what might have come in or how things changed with the tide. We got very familiar with tide charts.
The location is an easy drive (approximately 30 minutes) to Acadia’s Hulls Cove visitors center and the Park Loop Road, but we loved the nearby Ship Harbor trail and Bass Harbor Head Light Station. Thurston’s Lobster Pound is a few miles away, and it was a great spot with fantastic food.
These items didn’t ruin our experience, but my parents could not figure out how to not soak the bathroom floor upstairs with the shower set up (rain head with no shower door) and the grill grates could use some TLC.
We loved our stay and would highly recommend the cottage to anyone coming to the area.
