Let's start with the positives, and there are many positives to mention. First, the neighborhood is delightful, filled with pubs bakeries, coffee houses, and restaurants, with wonderful Spaniards (but not so many tourists) enjoying themselves well into the night. But central Barcelona is only a couple of metro stops away from the very convenient local station. The apartment itself reminds me of so many middle-class, nicely appointed abodes I've been to, and lived in, around Europe. All the rooms can be shut off by doors, allowing for wonderful privacy. And the terraces are amazing, off of almost every room, with views across Barcelona.
The only problem was with check-in. We secured this property for five of us, with two others opting for a hotel in town. The two others had their own car, so we put all our luggage into the car, and we flew on Vueling without baggage fees. Then Vueling delayed the flight, so the two in the car would arrive first, drop the luggage, and be with friends for dinner. We would arrive later. Absolutely not, said Carmen, without offering some alternative, like leaving the key with a neighbor or a friendly local shop. I understand that receiving two groups at two different times is burdensome, but at those prices, I certainly would have expected more flexibility on her part. Her husband, who received us, BTW, was delightful.
