Keizer Lake Campsite on Burnett County Forest
You have found a rustic campsite for your tent approximately 6 miles from the small town of Webster in Northwestern Wisconsin! This campsite is nestled in 1,500 acres of the Burnett County Forest on the south side of Keizer Lake. There are three different places to choose from to park your car and then hop on a woods trail and hike or bike to the campsite. The shortest hike in is 1/2 mile. You will have no choice but to enjoy some solitude and the beauty of nature during your stay!
The space
There is no motorized access to this campsite as it is accessible by foot or bike only. No electricity or potable water is available. There is a tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, and primitive pit toilet. You may use 1-2 tents with a maximum of 6 people staying on the site.
You must bring your own tent and supplies, (including toilet paper). This listing is for a site only. No water is available, you must carry in your own.
You are in bear country! Be sure to clean up after your meals so as not to attract any unwanted, big or little, furry visitors.
Enjoy picking berries, mushrooms, tree seeds, or other edible fruits during their seasons! Just note that collection must not damage the plants or the natural features of the land. Digging or removal of plants, trees, or other vegetation without written permission from Burnett County is prohibited.
The woods trails connect to an established 5 mile, single track, mountain bike trail found just northeast of Keizer Lake by Banach Lake.
Mosquitos, ticks, and bees do exist. Hearing loons, owls, coyotes, and other wildlife at night is quite common.
Please use the "Leave No Trace" camping principles and take out everything you carry in, picking up all trash (including cigarette butts).
Keizer Lake is a 23 acre lake with maximum depth of 4 feet. It is not known for fishing.
All campfires must be in the campfire ring. No fires are allowed when there is a Red Flag Alert in the county. All fires must be extinguished and cool enough to touch with your hand before leaving the campsite. YOU are responsible if your campfire gets away and are liable for all expenses incurred in suppressing the fire and will be responsible for all damages caused by the fire.
Camping and campfires are not allowed when County or State emergency fire regulations are in effect. Burnett County reserves the right to suspend all camping reservations during this period.
Reserving this campsite allows for collection of dead and down vegetation for campfires within the fire ring in the permitted area. But, such dead vegetation may not be removed from the immediate area itself. This shall not be construed to permit harvest of vegetation otherwise controlled. This does not allow cutting of any living trees or shrubs.
Burnett County Forest Land is open to the public for hunting (when in season), hiking, etc. There is a possibility that you may encounter others enjoying the outdoors during your stay. Please be aware that on occasion one of our volunteers may stop by to do the regularly scheduled cleaning of the pit toilet during your stay.
Other things to note
There are three other campsites in the area that have access to the same woods trails for hiking and biking.
