Great atmosphere - we stayed over the Christmas as we spent time with some friends in the region. It would probably help if the mattresses would be more comfortable! It would have been a good night sleep since it is nice and quiet! We've stayed in other medieval locations, but the mattress comfort was so much better! The owners/employees are great hosts, very accommodating. They even changed the mattresses once with some slight better ones - so no complain! This is a really nice location and I think it looks as a promising resting place in the future!

Well worth the few kms to drive to..
Initial impression on arriving disappointing as nothing like the bright pictures used to advertize the place... BUT ... the inside is unbelievable, and the staff are fantastic... hospitality is often sadly missing in this business .. NOT HERE .. coffee and cake on arrival, free roam of the property and what a revelation. A lot of effort is being spent bringjng ghis place back to its' former glory. Well worth a visit and obviously much better in ghe spring and summer when the restaurant/- cafe is open and the grounds are better presented. Fantastic room... enormous, great bathroom, and room decor matchjng the environment ... as are all the rooms and halls we saw when roaming around. Local village has little to interest one, but the town a few kms away had a very good xmas market We shall definately return if ever driving this way again

What fun to stay in a real castle! Our room, the family apartment, was amazing too. HUGE! The staff was super friendly and actually gave our family a tour through the whole castle. Going between Denmark and East Germany, this is off the main road but about the same distance. Definitely worth going to alternate route. I have heard that the mountains in this area are worth exploring too. We were passing through and didn't have the time, but really enjoyed the experience at Veltheimsburg. Nice recommendation for places to eat nearby too.

AMAZING!
Absolutely AMAZING!!!! We were the ONLY people in the ENTIRE hotel, and the manager told us we could explore at our leisure. The inside of the hotel is filled with history and is spotless and clean. Our breakfast was amazing and served to us as if we were Kings in front of a roaring fireplace. This hotel is off the beaten path and is very old, but in my opinion the most amazing experience!!

Sehr schönes, in die Jahre gekommene Schloss. Zimmereinrichtung ist schön, der Frühstücksraum ist allerdings nicht sehr gemütlich, hat aber einen Kaffeevollautomaten, den man rund um die Uhr nutzen kann

Séjour fort agréable
Superbe cadre et superbe chambre (6) . Accueil fort sympathique malgré la barrière de la langue. Pas de restauration sur place mais de bons restaurants pas trop loin. Cadre très agréable et nuit très calme sans aucun bruits extérieurs. Possibilité d’avoir des boissons fraîches ou du vin à la cuisine, en réglant plus tard donc fort pratique. Petit déjeuner moyen pour le pays mais personnel très agréable. Pour résumer, si j’ai l’occasion j’y retournerai.
