Needs some renovation, but can't beat the location
This hotel has been around for a long time, and you can tell from the aging carpet and flooring.. But they kept clean and pleasing for the most part. The room is not big, but big enough so that you don't feel cramped.
The location is absolutely the best. Subway station is right downstairs and within walking distance is arguably one of the busiest commercial district in modern Beijing. Try to avoid commuting by car from this location in rush hour though.
One very nice detail is that they have a digital scale in the room. This is very handy for travelers with checked baggage and I'm not sure why other hotels don't do the same..
Wifi is spotty.
For the price I paid, the condition of the room was appalling. The carpet was absolutely filthy. The carpet was actually sticky! I have stayed in $6 hotels that had cleaner floors. The lobby was fine. The boys at the concierge desk wanted to be helpful, but their English was very limited. The check-in staff wasn't exceptionally friendly. I never saw them smile once. I was satisfied with the location of the hotel. It is right next to a subway station entrance, and the fun options of the Sanlitun area. I wouldn't recommend the hotel until it gets a remodeled, though.

Strategic Locations
I stayed in this hotel for 1 week. Its strategically located near to restaurants and shopping centers. It was also very good location for me because the hotel is just 5 minutes away to the office i am visiting.
I appreciate them being accommodating and considerate as i arrived early in the morning from long trip of which they were able to provided me a room right away.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Disliked: Staff & service
No security in case of emergency.Bad internet.
This is the second time I stay in this hotel. I had an awful situation in my room. I had someone unauthorized to come to the 4th floor knocking on my door like crazy for 25 minutes. I called security at least 5 times and NOBODY showed up at my door to help me. Very disturbing and totally unacceptable. I had to walked out of the room, run away looking for help while having this crazy guy harassed me while I was in my room and walking out of it.
While the overall condition is dated. I liked the hotel for all reasons, air conditioning and cleaner worked really great. Staff we great. cos was good. central location. all good.
I first moved to Beijing 31 years ago--the same year this hotel was built. I remember back then, it was an exceptional building in a city then without comparable hotels. It is obvious, however, that the hotel has not been updated since then (other than a newer TV). The rooms are okay. Clean. I expected the bed to be hard as a rock like many Chinese hotels. It wasn't quite that hard. Bathroom was good. Hot shower. Air con worked fine. The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. Conveniently situated on the East Third Ring Road (which is where I always stay), it's close enough to everything and especially convenient to Sanlitun, the focus of night life in Beijing.
This hotel is a piece of modern Chinese history. It was built during the 1980's and has a commemorative plaque with calligraphy by Deng Xiao Peng himself. Facilities are well maintained and the fact that it's slightly old fashioned adds charm. Plumbing and wifi were fine; the weather was mild so I did not really test the A/C. It's right next to the subway and a short walk to the Sanlitun shopping and entertainment area. I had the best foot massage of my life at their health spa, though I regret not trying the pool. Breakfast buffet was typical for a Chinese business hotel. Go elsewhere if you insist on Western fare. I loved it.
hello. overall pretty good, atmosphere is good and easy going with staff helpful and friendly. etc. was changed from first room as problem with toilet and that room really needed repairs [carpet bad, cabinets damaged and shower unit really bad but baht had shower so no issue]. current room is good, etc. one weird thing: my business email [outlook] was block from sending but everywhere else worked and vpn was blocked from working. elsewhere all wifi allows both to wok. Breakfast, they really should do fried eggs or omelettes as it lacks this item which I love in morning , !!
The staff kept saying they could not find the record in a very impolite manner, which was quite a shock for me as this is a 4-star hotel. After waited in the lobby for an hour at 12am, they finally proposed that I could pay RMB1500 deposit first. Why couldn't they say it earlier and had me waited for an hour after a long flight. What a disappointment!
Bedroom has poor lighting. Hotel not well maintained given its age. After 3 days in Zhaolong, we moved to Crowne Plaza in Wangfujing, of similar price point. It is a much more pleasant stay in many aspects.
The room overall was clean, but the place was a bit old. I highly suspected someone came into my room while I was away and stole cash from my bag, which the staff denied. Be very careful staying here!
So worse to stay in. The standard, Business or executive rooms doesn't mean anything, as all are the same. 20th and 21st floors were just better. I changed my room three times but finally no choice rather than to stay, as they were not refunding for cancelation of the next day.
I recommend not to ever book it for even 30$ a day.
Arriving at the hotel we were hopeful for a comfortable stay. The foyer and staff are excellent. It's not till you enter your room that the standard drops. The carpet was smartweed with all kinds of stains and didn't look as though they were vacuumed since the seventies. The shower had more a LOT of mould and mildew around the base. I had no confidence that the bed sheets were clean, although the slightly damp feeling suggested they had been recently washed. We booked 2 separate rooms on different floors. So we know it was not just a one off issue with our room.
In a town that has plenty of competition I'm surprised at the gap between the standards of the room and the service from the staff.
