We really enjoyed this spacious and clean home. Plenty of room for 6 adults. Beautiful sunrise/sunset views from the very large deck. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the deck. Not too far to Acadia Nat’l Park and Bar Harbor. Highly recommend this home for a relaxing Maine vacation.

Would NOT recommend
The main issue was that the water would not stay hot or even warm, 95% of our showers were freezing cold. After discovering this I looked back at the reviews and this issue has been mentioned before and nothing has been done to fix this problem, it is not acceptable. This extremely frustrating and could potentially burn someone. The master bed is extremely worn out and does not offer any support. The entire house smells like mildew and should have dehumidifiers installed in the basement specifically. The main floor bathroom smells faintly of skunk. The thermostat in the kitchen would not change and must be stuck on 74° so it would get too hot in the house and there were zero instructions on using the mini split. We had rain during our visit so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving windows open. They do not allow the cooking of shellfish in the house which is absurd. The house is on the coast of Maine, people will want to cook their catch or what they bought locally. Honestly if it is about the smell I would have welcomed the smell of seafood over the smell of mildew and mold. Cobwebs and dog hair were also noticed and bugs in bathroom vent/light. In the listing It says that this is an oceanfront property with a view and it is neither. Not only is there no access to the ocean there is no view. This is false advertising. The property manager wants phone calls during business hours however there is no cellular service on much of the island.

Lovely home
The home was large, airy, and immaculate. Our family of 4 (two adults, two teens) were very comfortable in separate rooms. The bathrooms were clean and well taken care of. The common rooms were very comfortable for sitting together. The loft room was a little warm the first day (unusually warm temps) but we brought up a fan and my teen said he was fine. Be aware you are on a main road. It was quiet overnight, but there are cars early in the morning. We loved staying on this part of the island. Very close to everything we wanted to do in Acadia, but away from the busier bustle of Bar Harbor. Overall it was a very well appointed and thoughtfully taken care of home. We wanted to stay longer.

Peaceful and relaxing stay
It was a wonderful stay on not-so-touristy side of Acadia. The owner is very prompt in communications. The house has grill, washer-dryer, an excellent deck, and a fully equipped kitchen that will let you cook all meals at home; you only need groceries, cooking oil, and condiments and there are decent grocery stores around. A small tip-stop by Hannaford at Ellsworth, before you come to the island, to pick up the groceries and tupperware (if needed), as they stock lot more variety. There are excellent hikes and biking roads all within 15-30 min of distance. Walking poles are very useful to navigate hikes. The surrounding road is not walkable, so having a car helps. The house itself has 2 good sized bedrooms and a third one for little older kids who do not mind climbing up to the room. The entryway to the house also has stairs, so if you have large suitcases to be carried up to the house, you will need to plan for that. There is lot of character to the house and you can see the effort the owner has added for ensuring the nautical theme of Maine to be prominent all over. The house has excellent insulation which, as the temperatures dip in October, is truly a blessing in disguise. Filling a bath tub with hot water is an issue, regardless of whether anyone has used shower of not just prior. But if you do not care about mundanities like a bath, it is easy to not worry about it at all. The house is not for folks with mobility issues. Overall, the house is very safe, very charming, and family friendly that can give you good memories in years to come.

This property worked beautifully for our group, open layout, but bedrooms are private enough that a crying infant didn’t wake up anyone. We cooked some wonderful meals together, and loved the deck. Lovely sunlight on sunny days.

Acadia ME, the house made the vacation!
House is so welcoming and interesting and while off the beaten path - we had the best meal locally! Everyday offered a level of hiking we were up for and on clear nights we were enchanted by many shooting stars observed from the deck. The house is well equipped (kitchen, bathrooms, towels, linens) and architecturally, a lot of fun!

Great location, excellent host
We had a very enjoyable stay. House is bright and we loved the open plan of the kitchen, dining area and living room. The deck is excellent but it was very hot in the sun (and we had three weeks of sunny days). Kitchen is well equipped and all appliances were in good order. We only used two bedrooms, the third one (in the lighthouse) had a great view but would have been hot and airless for sleeping however, the secondary living room with the futon could be used. There is also an office with desk. Tim is an excellent host. All communications were answered within minutes.

Quiet Lighthouse Stay
The house had everything we needed for our stay. The 3rd bedroom (ladder steps) is in a slightly inconvenient location being so far away from the bathrooms along with no air vents or ceiling fan. The deck was great but there are a few screws sticking up which could be dangerous on bare feet. The fans were dirty. Overall, it was a comfortable quiet location with all the amenities. We had a great time.

Great spot for a getaway with friends and dog friendly!
My husband and I like to visit Maine once a year with our dog & this year, we invited my brother & his best friend to join us on our adventure. We found this place and thought it would be perfect and we were right! The pictures do not lie - it looks like a real lighthouse and the inside has a lot of memorabilia and decor to keep in theme! It rained a lot during our stay so we spent a lot of time in the lighthouse but we still had a great time! We played board games at the table, vegged on the couch, read in the study and just enjoyed the views. The large window on the wall in the living room was really awesome, especially during the storms and the early hours of the morning. There's also a deck that we all (including the dog) hung out on when the weather permitted. The kitchen was stocked with whatever pots, pans and utensils we needed (even a pizza cutter!!!!), which was great because we ended up cooking a lot. Everyone had their own space for sleeping and hanging out (my husband, dog & I had a loft to ourselves which had its own bathroom, my brother had his own room on the first floor & our friend slept in the upstairs lighthouse bedroom or on the pull out couch in the study) but we also had plenty of room in the living/dining area when we wanted to hang out together. It was very cozy but we never felt cramped. The location is great - the house has grass around it which is great for those with dogs! Also, the house is only 30ish minutes from Acadia and Bar Harbor and there are also other hiking trails closer to the lighthouse. Tim & Laurie were great hosts - very responsive and informative if we had any questions and gave clear check-in and check-out directions. When we arrived, they even had a basket of maps available of some of the surrounding sights worth visiting (which was a very nice touch!) The house was stocked with clean towels and any staples we could have needed. We had a wonderful stay at the lighthouse and would definitely visit here again.

Loved life in the Lighthouse
The Lighthouse is a great place for family or a group of friends. It is on the quiet side of MDI so it does require a bit of driving to get to the main part of Acadia. But being away from the crowd has its pleasures. We found beautiful hikes that we had never explored before such as the magical West Ledge trail on Bernard Mountain. And the sky is so dark that one clear night we all went out and laid on the driveway looking at the Milky Way like we were in our own personal planetarium. The house is built vertically like a lighthouse so the ability to go up and down stairs is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy their stay. However, the house is so worth the climb with great nautical décor and open space in the main cooking, dining and living area for the whole group to be together. There is a wonderful deck with a grill for outdoor gathering too. We also greatly appreciated having the garage space for our bikes and other gear. Thank you Tim, we had a great time.

Excellent VRBO Owner/some issues
Tim was outstanding and kind. We did have issues unfortunately: 1. Cleanliness. A lot of cobwebs. Also notable dust in fact didn’t run main room fan due noticeable dust and cobwebs up by it 2. Bedding extremely soft to point all suffered sore backs 3. TV- not satellite it’s streaming only so no live tv 4. Hot water issues downstairs bath That said a great location, wonderful back deck and very accommodating Owner

Ray of sunshine at the lighthouse
We had a perfect week at this superior vrbo rental. The owner has established a complete system for the rental for your comfort, and had addressed all your needs in this spotlessly clean, large, and airy “home away from home.” This is a house with a story; the decor is nautical down to the heavy wooden sea captain’s door to the entry; turns out the captain is a house relative and relative of a ship builder. Seeing the history made this all the more special. The home owner was super responsive and helpful. He responded within hours of any communication and always was helpful. What he promised, he delivered. We were so pleased especially with the space this house provided. We had 6 family members and each had a “space” to call their own. The two full baths are very good sized and very clean and comfortable. We loved the second living area, or den; it felt very calming, like a ship captain’s quarters. The small office was VERY HELPFUL for working during the week and the view was amazing. The “funnest” part was the lighthouse room lofted above ; very private for its occupant, a novelty room for sure, but the view…WOW. It also has a desk for another private workplace. We loved the large deck complete with a full set of outdoor furniture which made watching the sunset over the water each night so comfortable. This is a great rental for a family or two, and it is quiet and restful. The area has 4 or 5 easy Arcadian hikes that were easy to park at and beautiful to explore. They don’t mention in the posting the basement exercise room which our son-in-law used daily, and the garage is a large empty space with a great floor covering that would make a great play space for a little one on a rainy day. We HIGHLY recommend this home and this owner. Again, a man of his word on what to expect. Thank you!!’

My wife and I stayed here with our three kids (aged 11-15) and it was just perfect! The house is unique, beautiful, wonderfully decorated, and had absolutely everything we needed for our stay. The wifi worked great,, and the air conditioning came in handy on the couple of days during our trip that were unseasonably warm. The house is on the quiet side of the island, but is still close enough to everything that it didn't feel like it took long to get anywhere we wanted to go. It was a real joy to return to the Lighthouse every night, and everyone was sad when it was time to say goodbye. The communication from the owners was also great. I can't recommend this place enough!
