Recently renovated and back on the rental market for 2025 - Welcome to the cozy Goss Pond house! A family-friendly cabin in a unique location, it's a quiet place to reflect and unwind with a dramatic backdrop of the cliff by the water. It is also a year-round family getaway for skiing, skating, snowmobiling, snowshoeing in the winter and canoeing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and exploring in the summer. We love apple picking nearby in the fall, making s'mores around the campfire, and playing board games and cards by the fireplace in the sunroom. We hope our house provides guests with a memorable stay year after year.
The location of Goss Pond is ideal: In the winter months, enjoy skiing at nearby Mt Abram and Sunday River Ski Resorts, or use a pair of the ice skates provided and spin on the frozen pond. During the warmer months, a canoe is available to paddle around, and there are a variety of trailheads for day hikes within a 10-minute drive of the house. This prime location makes it easy for you to enjoy recreation at your fingertips.
Amenities at the house include a sauna, a large deck overlooking the Goss Pond, and the dramatic cliffs of Egypt Mountain. There is also an outdoor hot tub (fully covered) and a grill making it easy to enjoy the outdoors well into the evening. With a soaring fireplace located in the sunroom away from the sleeping spaces, this space is the go-to hang-out spot well into the night. The house is perfect for families with kid-friendly amenities, including a pack-n-play, two baby monitors, a high chair, children's toys, and books. There are plenty of books and board games for all ages to enjoy.
Enter the house through the mudroom, where you can enjoy organized storage for your skis, boots, and outside layers. On the main level, you will find a living room, full bathroom, and kitchen, which is abundantly stocked with all of the supplies, spices, and cookware that you will need. The main level bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, a bureau, and a closet.
Upstairs, a full renovation was just completed in January of 2025! There is a second bathroom with a walk-in shower, a large soaking tub, an open office area, and two bedrooms. One bedroom is arranged with a twin trundle bed with storage drawers below. The other bedroom has a queen bed, a window seat, and built-in bookshelves. There is an open office with a desk and a cozy sitting area. Large windows overlook the mountain and pond from the bathroom, office, and bedroom. Note that the windows upstairs do not have shades but face the woods with no neighbors in sight.
On the lower level, a second living room area has access to the sunroom with a stone fireplace, hot tub, and sauna. There is a separate space with a 4th sleeping area with a queen bed, though it does not provide egress access. This can be a quiet place to rest or read. A twin daybed is a trundle that can also extend into a king in the living room area. This level also has a full bathroom, giving larger families additional privacy.
If you are looking for a well-stocked house with a woodsy Maine allure, this getaway is for you.
Please note—the wood stove is not available for use, but we encourage you to use the stone fireplace in the sunroom! Please replace any firewood that you use from our personal supply.
