About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Charming Log Cabin for Peaceful Mountain Getaway!

Our cabin is conveniently located just off the Peak to Peak Highway, Route 119, midway between the fun, gambling town of Black Hawk and the town of Nederland, gateway to the Indian Peaks wilderness, in the quiet mountain neighborhood of Meadowlake Mountain Acres. Located on almost two acres, Aspen Meadows has a geological rock formation at the rear of the property, where, after an easy hike up the pathway, you are treated to an almost 360 degree view of the surrounding mountain peaks, including the Continental Divide.

Cabin Features
Aspen Meadows' open floor plan is bright and cheery with large windows and easy communication between the living room, dining room and kitchen. A den/sunroom off the living room is another gathering place and can be closed off to serve as an additional bedroom with the comfy sofa that folds out to a queen-size bed for one or two extra guests. A wood burning fireplace in the living room and a wood stove in the dining room will keep your family warm and cozy, (wood is provided). The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to whip up delicious meals, including staples, spices, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. (Nederland's B&F Supermarket is minutes away for convenient stocking up.) If you don't feel like cooking, Nederland also has several fun restaurants and Roy's Last Shot, a family restaurant and bar, is a mile down the road.

The master bedroom has a comfy queen-size bed, an en-suite bathroom and French doors which open onto a private deck. The second bedroom also has a queen size bed and the kids' bedroom is equipped with a bunk bed and two twin beds.

More Good Stuff
In addition, there is a full bathroom near the kitchen and a washer and dryer, with detergent, for your use. On the main deck in the front of the cabin, there is a gas grill, along with plenty of seating, and the crisp, delicious mountain air abounds! Our cabin now has free WI-FI for guests! Also, a flat screen TV with DirectTV, a DVD/VHS player, an extensive movie library, an additional TV with a built in DVD/VHS player and plenty of books and board games to enjoy while on vacation. Kick back, relax and enjoy the peace!

Pets are welcome at Aspen Meadows with an additional security deposit. Although the streets leading up to the easily accessed and flat driveway of the cabin are quickly plowed after snowfall by the county, 4WD is still recommended throughout the Winter.

So Many Things to Do!
The property is one mile from the entrance of Golden Gate Canyon State Park and within easy driving distance to fabulous hiking, biking, fishing, sight-seeing, skiing, gambling in the mining town of Black Hawk, and so much more. Vacationers are within walking distance to the Gilpin County Library with free computers and internet access, and two miles down the highway is the first class Gilpin Community Center. Our Center offers an indoor track, lap & activity pools, basketball & volleyball courts, dance & fitness studio, cardio equipment, weight room, hiking trail, art studio, teen room with pool, ping pong and air hockey tables, meeting rooms, lounge, free WI-FI, seasonal events and more, all available to visitors for a small fee!

This was an awesome cabin and a great location for Nederland, Golden Gate Canyon State Park and Idaho Springs. Everyone enjoyed having their own space and bedrooms. Kitchen was fully stocked with appliances and dishes. We enjoyed the daily visit of the Moose and her calf and it was an enjoyable walk to the lake. We were even able to see the comet from the rock pile in the back yard. We would definitely stay here again if are in the area.

What a Delight!
We were thrilled about this cabin and it didn't disappoint one bit! It was clean, relaxing, peaceful, rustic, and very cabin-y. We couldnt have asked for anything more! The location was perfect! We had never been tk that part kf CO, but we'll be back!! The rock pile in the back was such a bonus! Viveca was wonderful to communicate with! This house absolutely made our vacation a 10/10!!!!

Mountain top
Overall, this is a great property. A little disappointed in the disheveled appearance of the outside - high weeds, unable to use the front yard due to recent septic work, but understandable. The inside of the house was spot on. Lots of room for everyone. Great to have laundry and two bathrooms. There was a mouse (or three). But this is somewhat to be expected considering the remote location as well. Rest assured that we took care of the issue and left the mouse traps in the junk drawer in the kitchen in case anyone else needs them. We were hoping that Thorn Lake was a bit more accessible. We were not sure where we could or could not access it due to some of the signs posted. There was wildlife galore!!! Bull moose, bull elk and even an overnight visit by a bear and her cub! The property is on the mountain, takes time to get down and near town again. Be sure to stop and grab your groceries before you head up. The prices at the nearby gas stations are ridiculous, even though convenient. Would definitely utilize the property again - met all of our needs!

Peaceful and cozy
We had the pleasure of staying for nearly six weeks at Viveca and Greg's mountain home while our own home was under renovation, and couldn't ask for a more comfortable spot to spend our holidays. We loved that it had absolutely everything we needed (tons of cooking gear, blankets, fire supplies, good wifi, etc), and was quiet and surrounded by trees and had a nice walking loop to take our dog around the pond. It was also super convenient to Denver, hiking at GGC, and skiing at Eldora. Beds were very comfy, nothing malfunctioned...all was as described. We did max out the wifi during our stay as we were working remote, but Viveca was incredibly accommodating about increasing the limit for us. (Note, it's not as fast as what most folks need for remote work these days and can't handle video conferences, but was fine for most of our needs). All in all - very comfortable place, exactly as described, and great host.

The cabin was clean and well equipped. Our bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a good nights sleep after exploring Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which is a short 5 minute drive from the cabin. Vivica is a great host and very easy to communicate with. If we travel to that area again we would not hesitate to stay at the cabin.

Great rustic location in the Colorado wilderness.
Great place with almost all the amenities! Spent Christmas 2022 with family here, and couldn't have asked for a more idyllic location, with plenty of snow, to spend Christmas. Bedrooms were comfortable with plenty of extra blankets available, kitchen was well stocked, and hot water was readily available for showers. Wood stove was great with plenty of chopped wood available for burning. Place had plenty of room for the family, and plenty of games, satellite TV, as well as winter gear available to borrow, to enjoy during the snowy conditions. Driveway and nearby roads were regularly plowed to allow easy ingress/egress. Only complaint is Wifi was not consistently available; even wiith 3 routers in use. Public library is just down the road though, if reliable internet access is needed.

We absolutely loved everything during our stay at your awesome cabin! Being from south Texas, we hardly ever see snow,, and upon our arrival, the area was stunning with all the snow, especially the beautiful snow at the cabin. The cabin has everything guests need, and then some. Thank you for the use of your lovely home while making great Colorado vacation memories. We hope to come back and visit again.

Nice cabin for a fall hiking vacation
The cabin is large and cozy for that rustic feel but with modern convenience. The fireplace and wood stove add to the appeal. We used the wood stove most nights and loved it. The land line phone and internet access were really a plus. We enjoyed several good hikes (especially Crater Lake) although the trails were very crowded on the weekend. We took a drive to the Eagle Plumes Native American museum/store one day which we highly recommend if you like Native American art and jewelry. Overall a great and memorable experience.
