Special call out to Amy who was lovely and helped me. However, the room pictures and property description didn't match either of the 2 rooms I stayed in. Every day the lift in my wing was out at least once when I tried to use it. Worst was when I had to carry my bags down 4 flights to check out. I feel sorry for those carrying theirs up the stairs. Wifi was apparently available in the public areas but I couldn't access it on my laptop so couldn't work while in the hotel. 2 of us waited 20 mins to access the gym/pool this morning despite reception ringing the gym reception to ask for us to be let in. The response when we walked around to the external access was the doors were open. Funny how 2 of us couldn't open them! I understand the price means a certain level of experience but it's the first time I've been disappointed with British service.

Great for convenience for just sleeping as rooms always clean. Inconvenience of having to walk from the 5th floor up amd down as lift not working having lugage was difficult for a lot of customers

The Norbreck is definately misrepresented on line with totally different photos. Its very dirty rooms look like prison cells. First room they gave us had mould all round the bathroom window and the handle did not work, so you couldnt close it and the door was coming away from the frame. The carpets were sticky. It was just awful. We did not stay and booked in somewhere else.

THE HOTEL STAFF WAS NOT VERY HELPFUL TO ME, THEY IGNORED ME MOST OF THE TIME WHILE I WAS WAITING TO TALK TO THEM, AND WASN'T VERY FRIENDLY WHILST TALKING TO ME I JUST HAD A BAD VIBE ABOUT THEM. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME GOING TO THIS HOTEL AND I HAD TO KEEP GOING TO THEM ASKING QUESTIONS, THE PHONE IN THE ROOM NEVER EVER GETS ANSWERED WHEN I CALL FOR HELP ETC.

Pleasant surprise
I stayed for a convention that was taking place peak-season. I was not expecting much, given that this hotel has poor reviews and is owned by the Britannia group. I was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was a little chaotic and slow but I arrived at peak check-in. The hotel is better maintained than most BG hotels. There was a veritable army of staff in clearly identifiable uniforms. This was their first time hosting this event and they were a little bemused at times but coped well and seemed to build good rapport with guests over the weekend. The room was small and very warm but I've stayed in worse. It was clean and the shower had good water pressure. Blunty, clean and working shower are my main concerns when I'm not "on holiday", as such. There were problems such as pretty spotty wifi, vending machines that only took change but the change machine didn't work and there is no ATM on site, and a somewhat random bar price for the same round. But none of the above were a very significant issue. The coffee on-site is, I am sorry to say, beyond rancid. I'm not a coffee snob but it was barely drinkable. However, just behind the hotel is a row of shops including a Morrisons, cafes, barbers and a pharmacy. The Morrisons has a Costa machine, by the way. Truthfully, I was expecting the worst for a big event at a big hotel in the peak season of a town having a big tourism upswing in 2024. This is not a 4 star hotel but its "affectionate" nickname of "HMP Norbreck" is unfair.

We had a good stay and i thought for what i paid for the room was of acceptable standard. There was no issues at all and staff was helpful and pleasant. The hotel is a bit dated and could do with an upgrade but with decor, facilities, etc but it doesnt deserve some of the reviews it gets as all hotels in area where of same quality

Disgraceful hotel
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Everything from the quality and cleanliness of the hotel room to the food was absolutely disgraceful. Also got charged £60 plus a £68 admin fee from the car hire company for parking when I was a guest. Hotel should be shut down

On reading the reviews after booking, I was expecting it to be bad, but this hotel was excellent value for money and it was clean. My only problem was when asked for water to take medication. We were told we could not buy any or have any. There was soft drinks and snacks and the bar was nice before it closed.
