About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Country retreat on Anglesey, North Wales.

The Dog and Duck House are a pair of beautiful, idyllic one bedroom country retreats, with all the comfort and cosiness you could wish for whilst on holiday on Anglesey. We also have a log cabin on site that can be found under a different listing called The Peacock Cabin.

Whatever the weather you will enjoy the comfort offered in either of these properties, and the fun and excitement of the surrounding area. The sitting rooms with their log burning stoves provide the setting for relaxing after a day out exploring the natural beauty of the Isle of Anglesey and the surrounding National Park.

We have sensitively renovated the properties over the last 4 years and have done much of the work ourselves taking into account every minute detail. Our hope is that we have created relaxing and calm spaces that enable you to fully unwind and enjoy time spent in this beautiful part of the world. The natural beauty of the area speaks for itself and if you enjoy the outdoors and love natural history this is definitely the place to visit - you will not be disappointed.

Both the Dog House and the Duck House have a sleeping capacity of 2 +2 people each, however we have an adjoining door (sensitively hidden between them and locked if each cottage is rented separately) that allows access to the adjoining cottage if required. This enables two families/couples or group of friends to enjoy both spaces together, or a larger family to be able to rent the complete space. The additional sleeping for 2 people in each of the cottages is a sofa bed so you would need to be organised and know each other well!

Wonderful visit
What a lovely, cosy cottage stay with very welcoming hosts. Our dog loved it too. Bit hard to find initially just using the postcode, but once you spot it the other side of the bridge things are simple and straightforward.

Absolutely perfect stay
We stayed for one night to try to see some stormy weather on Anglesey. The accomodation was absolutely perfect for us. Its spotless and extremely well equipped. Welshcakes and a bottle of wine welcomed us which is a lovely touch. The wood burning fire was a treat and the shower was the best I have ever stepped into. The owners have creatively made the shower floor out of small pebbles and i actually felt as though I was standing on a beach - very clever indeed. The accomodation is tasteful and creative and has a real homely feel. The owners do live on site, but left us to it which is our preference. However, they do offer an immediate response if you need it. We asked for more logs and within minutes we had them. This place is beautiful.

A truly delightful Welsh cottage experience
Every thing about this stay was perfect. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The cottage had fresh eggs, coffee and tea and milk, Welsh cakes, and a nice bottle of wine as a welcome gift. The kitchen is well appointed, the bedroom is very comfortable, fantastic bedding and the bathroom, especially the shower is gorgeous and huge. The grounds are lovely, there is a pond that makes a soothing sound for sleeping, the chairs outside are a nice place to sit on a sunny day. It is close to many great hikes like on Llanddwyn Island and a short drive to Holyhead. For Canadian/North American travellers I would recommend stopping at one of the gas stations (gas stations have small grocery stores that are really well stocked compared to rural Ontario) before arriving for snacks and other beverages as it is wonderfully remote and quiet and once you are there you won't want to leave to find these items. I would give this stay a 100% and would go back in a second.

Fabulous cottage in a lovely location
This was our 3rd stay at the Dog and Duck House. Lovely cottages with great facilities in a great location for trips to Newborough beach and the other attractions on the Island. Great walks straight from the door. We had brilliant weather for February which always helps.

Quiet and peaceful cottage
Duck cottage was everything we wanted and more. Within easy reach of A55 yet very quiet and secluded. Close to stunning beach and forest, wished we had longer to explore Anglesey. Welcome pack of eggs Malbec and Welsh cakes was a lovely touch.

A great place to chill
Overall the property met our expectations . Great living space and bathroom. On the downside the bedroom carpet had a stale smell and the bedroom skirtings needed a wipeover. Taking all this into consideration we will almost certainly pay this cottage more visits.

From the minute you park outside your cottage you know this is going to be all you’d hoped for. Superb for both dogs & children. If you want to step out of the rat race for a short while this is the place to go. Lovely friendly hosts backed up by their lovely dogs. Margot so cute & don’t be fooled by Ruby laid back Labrador gave our Goldendoodle a good run. The Duck House is really cosy absolutely everything you need. Ideal 2x adults & we often had the neighbours 2x dogs the hosts 2x dogs who popped into collect treats & our own who was only too happy to go our for a run round. A real doggie heaven. You will not be disappointed we loved our stay.

Peaceful getaway location
Lovely property, everything at hand. Shame because of weather we couldn’t sit in the garden but log fire gave comfort. You do need a car because of location. We had very nice neighbors next door in The Doghouse who also had a dog - nice friend for our dog Cassie to play with outside.

Fantastic retreat. Lovely hosts. Great location.
We stayed at the duck house and loved it. Great for 2 people (and a dog!). Lovely and comfy and warm inside. Great location for walks and fantastic views. Katie and Ben were lovely hosts and the wine and welsh cakes were a lovely touch. Ben also bought us freshly laid duck eggs which were fab! We will be back!

Absolutely gorgeous !
We have had the most relaxing break in the Duck House! Clean, comfortable and cosy accommodation. The cottage itself has everything you could possibly need. The welcome pack was lovely and included the most delicious homemade marmalade. The bed is large and extremely comfy and the cottage is furnished to a high standard with lots of cute quirky features. The surroundings are very peaceful as it is situated off the beaten track, just perfect if you like a quiet break. We enjoyed it very much and would definitely recommend it to others.

The site is close to an RSPB reserve with rarities flying over your head whist eating breakfast or dinner. The accommodation is very pleasant with many considerate touches to welcome you. Fresh hens eggs, milk, butter, Welsh cakes with homemade marmalade! Ben and Katie are very friendly and helpful to assist with your holiday.

Holiday cottage in a really peaceful area
The Duck House is a really nice cottage located in a really quiet/peaceful location - it is well placed for visiting local towns eg Llangefni, Rhosneigr and Aberffraw plus exploring the lovely coastline/beaches including Newborough beach. There is a shop in Bethel which supplies day to day items and there are larger shops/supermarkets in the surrounding towns. The cottage is best suited for a couple, the lounge/dining and kitchen are located in one room, there is a separate bedroom and bathroom which has a great shower. The owners left a lovely welcome treat for us - welsh cakes and marmalade, fresh eggs and milk, plus lovely fresh flowers. The cottage is a bit tricky to find, satellite navigation based on post code delivers you to a road that runs parallel to the one you drive down to access the cottage. We were fortunate in that we spotted a sign on the cottage access road but additional ones on the surrounding roads would be useful. We also found the access road a bit of a challenge, the surface is made with gravel and there were numerous potholes, some of which were quite deep. Overall the cottage was in a great location and had everything we needed.

Lovely place biker friendly
Really nice place to stay, lovely owners. For all you motor bikers out there Ben an Kate will let you put your bikes in a locked garage. If you like peace and quiet this is for you. We will be going back on the motorbikes as it’s only 20 mins from snowdon and the rides around the mountain are stunning. When we got to the duck house there was a bottle of wine and some cake what more could you ask for.
