Welcome to the Inn at Maggodee Creek! We're so happy to host
you! The Log Cabin part of our house is dated back to before the Civil
War. The other half was added around the turn of the 19th century
and still has a lot of its original charm. This is my husband's
childhood home that we inherited in 2022. We have lovingly updated
it since that time.
The large front porch is so inviting, for early morning tea or coffee basking in the sun.
A perfect place to sit in your pajamas and enjoy the scenery. The cows grazing nearby or the creek meandering through the property or the train rolling by.
The back porch/patio is another wonderful place to sit and enjoy the evening sun with a close-up view of the cows and the rolling hills.
Just out the front door and a little walk down to Maggodee Creek, a bench and a picnic table await you. Be sure to bring your bathing suit to swim or wade in the creek. A set of stairs will lead you down, or you can climb down the bank—your choice.
Back at the house...Sitting in the log room puts you back in the Pre-Civil War era. The rough cut logs and intricate detail into each one placed. What they used to hold it all together and insulate it is displayed throughout the house....horse hair, red mud, rocks, sticks, and bricks. Make sure you look at the ceiling in the log room. Look for, "C H Wright Boone Mill VA" and look for the many "C"'s & "Wright"'s on the ceiling. At the turn of the century, C H Wright ordered the lumber and flooring on pallets and had them shipped by train to the Boones Mill Train Depot. The shipper wrote his name and the town to where the lumber would be shipped. We discovered this when we were uncovering the walls and the ceiling. C H Wright thought no one would ever see them again. Little did he know!
Now, we hope that you can enjoy some time in this wonderful getaway. Make yourself at home!
