Absolutely fantastic hotel in the centre of Salem. We spent 2 nights in December and they had lovely touches such as complimentary coffee in the morning and warm apple cider at night! Loved every second of staying at the hotel. We probably won’t return to Salem (it’s a big world to see) but we will always recommend the Hawthorne hotel to anyone that plans on visiting! Thank you for wonderful memories

We absolutely loved the beauty of this historic hotel. It retains many original features and was decorated so nicely for the holidays, it was warm and welcoming. Staff was very informative and helpful. We had dinner at The Tavern and enjoyed the setting, the large portions and the excellent food. The complimentary coffee, tea and cider was a very nice touch. The only thing that didn't go well was breakfast at Nathaniels. My daughter's pancakes came out cold and were not tasty at all. My Irish eggs benedict was just so so. The potatoes were hot and delicious but the corned beef was cold and the poached eggs were overcooked so the yoke was hard. Our waitress was very nice and she did take the pancakes off our bill. Maybe the cook was new. Overall we loved the Hawthorne and would definately return for another stay.

Had a lovely stay! This hotel is beautiful and homey. Very close to everything you need in Salem. Small heads up there are no fridges in the room so plan to eat your leftovers day of. Overall, awesome!

We loved our stay at the Hawthorne! The hotel is beautiful, elegant, and well-maintained. The bed was a little small for two adults, and I was surprised it was considered a two-person room. We also were surprised that there was no mini-fridge in the room. I know it's a small space, but something would be helpful. My partner is insulin-dependent and we were able to make do with a bucket of ice from the machine, but it wasn't ideal. Other than that, everything else was great. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was mostly quiet (except for some rowdier guests who felt the need to have loud conversations in the hallways at 2 am, but that seemed to be dealt with). The location is absolutely perfect for everything that we love to do in Salem!

First time visiting Salem and this hotel was the most conveniently located to walk everywhere. Still thinking about the chocolate flourless torte from the holiday menu. 10/10 would come back again!

Nice old hotel . We were hear for wedding and were able to get into room early . Was really cold outside and staff member came to make sure our room was warm enough. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
