Maison du Puits
We stayed here for two weeks in November. Great time to visit the south of France; the crowds are gone, and the weather is still decent. This rental experience has achieved top ranking in the many places we have stayed over the past decade. Fantastic location in Boulbon, about ten minutes to Avignon by car. The village itself is awesome, with restaurants, a bakery, a butcher shop and a small grocery store within easy walking distance. Kitchen is well-equipped; we cooked a lot of French food during our stay. Nice to have a dishwasher. We took advantage of the outdoor produce markets in nearby communities. Fresh seasonal products, plus cheese, olives and tapenade. Bathrooms have good showers, good water pressure. Comfortable beds. Very cosy main floor, we had a wood fire going on chilly mornings. The house itself is stone; it was beautifully reconstructed from a ruin. Its tucked inside an old fortification. Really cool. Lovely terrace outside with a masonry charcoal grill. There is a spiral concrete staircase that allows access to the top two floors (three story building). Stone stairs access the terrace from outside the house, and another set of stairs accesses it from the second level of the house. The property is not suitable to those with mobility issues. Paola the caretaker is a warm, friendly lady. The owners are very well organized, especially the house information binder, which addresses everything you need to know about the property.

Boulbon praises
We chose this property after seeing it on a previous trip when we were enchanted by its age and location. It lived up to all expectations for us. We are two pretty fit senior citizens who were travelling with our 22 year old granddaughter. Paola, the property manager in the village, was amazing. It is an easy 15 minute drive to the Avignon TGV station. The village boulangerie is wonderful, and the small grocery had everything we needed.

Wonderfully Historic South of France Stay
The medieval home was very comfortable and also a great way to become immersed into one of the historic communities that make up the south of France. The medieval village was lovely. The location could not be beat for day trips. All in all a great place to stay while exploring the south of France.

Like a little Castle
Beautiful property inside the walls of the old medieval city. You can see it has been wonderfully restored with much love. It is just like staying in a little castle. Butcher, bakery and small grocery store less than 3 minutes walk. Great location to settle for a week or more and satellite to other culturally rich villages and towns. I certainly recommend it.

Lovely stay in Provence.
We had a lovely one-week stay in Boulbon at La Maison des Puits. The house is large and historic - it truly feels like staying somewhere special. We had expected to be five people, but ended up being three. It would have been more than enough space for our entire group. The owner - Les - was VERY quick to respond and really accommodating. The local caretaker of the property - Paola - was absolutely fantastic. Boulbon itself is a small, very quiet, and very historic village - close enough to other towns/areas we wanted to see - having a car is key to be able to do that. We hope to be back!

A great week in Boulbon
The house was beautifully renovated and there was plenty of space for our family of six. Boulbon is a town of great character and we saw several events there - the Blessing of the Bottles and a cycle race, plus there were concerts and a fun fair.Weather good throughout despite forecasts of daily thunderstorms! .

Great home base for enjoying Provence
The house was wonderful and suited our large family well. We enjoyed eating our meals on the terrace. They did a great job of making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed walking to the patisserie, butchery, and Utile every morning. Our boys enjoyed biking and hiking in and around the town. The location was ideal and it was easy to get to many different sites.

Glorious house in a picture book village
The Maison du Puits in situated in the village of Boulbon, a short 18 km south of Avignon, and a world away from the traffic and tourist hustle one finds in urban Provence. Surrounded by orchards and vineyards, Boulbon is a gem with one boulangerie, one mini-market, and two cafes/restaurants that seem to be all the residents need to live a satisfying Provencal life. The house is immaculate on three levels with room for many though there were only two of us. Stay at the Maison du Puits and wonder why anyone would consider staying anywhere else. And Paoula, the caretaker is a gem; speaker of at least three languages and a joy to interact with. More than a five star experience.

Special home in a lovely village. The house was very clean and well supplied with everything necessary, and more, for a stay of a week or longer. The house is just within the walls of the 13th century chateau (now in ruins), with part of an old high wall enclosing the terrace. We were met by Paola who provided with all the information we needed, including unique places of interest in the surrounding area (thank you Paola, we visited all of them). Boulbon itself is quiet with narrow streets and paths. The boulangerie and market were just a minute away. A few minutes furthered there is a cafe and a brasserie. There is also a very nice restaurant around the corner. Good hiking on numerous paths is available in the hills behind the house. Loved the house and the town, and we hope to return.

Fabulous
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home! We appreciated all your communication and help with our long first travel day and many other hints. Paola, the local caretaker was AMAZING and kind & available for help. This home is truly fabulous. It has everything you may need for a stay of many months. The kitchen is fully equipped for full meal cooking. The details of all the original structures and modern conveniences are wonderful. The photos on vrbo really don't give this place justice. But I don't know how they could. There are so many curves and lines in the stonework that cannot be picked up by a camera. And there is also a "feel" about the dwelling that cannot be described either. Driving up into Boulbon at night is magical with the fortified chateau lit up. One truly feels like they are stepping back in time while walking through the medieval gates & streets. There are many fun extras at the home that we didnt have time to use. We did enjoy drinking wine on the terrace :)There are a couple yummy restaurants in Boulbon as well. Thank you for sharing your home with us. We have shared a wonderful time with our three 20-something-year-old children that we will always cherish. We picked this lovely home due to its proximity of sightseeing and ease of parking. We took day trips to Arles, Cassis, Nimes, Pont du Gard & Les Baux, and Vaison la Romaine. There are many more sights to see that we just didn’t get time to enjoy. La Maison du Puis is so convenient to the local boulangerie and little grocery store. The parking was convenient since we planned on driving daily. Adrienne & Will Savannah, Georgia USA

Absolutely lovely!
A lovely home beautifully equipped with everything that you could need. Even good quality pots and pans! The terrace is just fantastic and we passed many happy hours there enjoying the peace and quiet and beauty of Boulbon. The tiny village is lovely, scenic and accessible. A short walk to bakery, butcher, grocery, post office, cafe/restaurant. Short drives to enjoy the gorgeous cities, villages and sites and attractions of Provence. There is a short bit rather steep hill to climb to get to the house from where you can leave the car, so that be a consideration for some. We enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend the property, the village and the area.

A quiet corner in a lovely small town
We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed this town. Our two weeks flew by and we had so much more to see. Close to Avignon, Arles, the Luberon & Nimes (amongst others). The house is tucked away in a back corner of the town, a very short walk to the bakery, small grocery store (which opened at 7 am and while we did our large shops in Tarascon it had everything we needed in between) and pharmacy. The walk to the central parking lot was less than 5 minutes. There is a lovely split-level terrace, we ate outside nearly every meal at the end of June. The table has a large umbrella we used mid-day and brought down in the evening. Our family of six had a great stay and all wished we could stay longer!

Fabulous villa in Boulbon, Provence
My wife and stayed for a month in in this lovely villa located at the base of Chateau de Boulbon, a medieval fortress built overlooking the town and nearby orchards and vineyards. The home was exactly as described and shown on the VRBO website, with absolutely no unpleasant surprises. Paola, the caretaker was there to meet us and guide us through the villa, explaining how everything works. She and all the other inhabitants of this quaint village make us very welcome.

Amazing house in the perfect location
It is difficult to describe how beautiful this house is! We had plenty of space for two couples and two teenagers. The patio was perfect for dinners outside. Boulbon has everything we needed, with the bakery, butcher, market, and two excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. Everything that we wanted to visit was within a 30 minute drive. Paola, the caretaker, was patient and kind and full of local information.
