Quaint and friendly traditional village in Provence
Over the course of a two week stay in the village of Boulbon, we had the chance to feel at home in the community. It is a short walk to the parking, restaurants, local grocery store, and most importantly to us--the boulangerie!
Boulbon is an excellent base for day trips throughout the area, with much to see within an hour's drive. Head to the city of Nimes or Arles, or find hiking spots through gorges and medieval ruins.
The house itself was built in the old style with 18 inch thick walls to keep it cool, windows for ventilation, and two patios (one off the main bedroom and the other off the living room on the top floor). The kitchen was perfect for cooking meals as well as the BBQ grill on the top patio.
With atmosphere galore, we felt that we had stepped back in time during our stay and may even have encountered a spirit or two! The views of the narrow streets, the church that had been converted to a library and was used for operatic events some evenings, as well as the old fortification up on the hill gave us hours of quiet contemplation from the patio as we relaxed after a day of touring.
Thank you Sophie and Stephane for letting us stay in your charming home!
