Walk 5 minutes in the other direction and you will discover the large green open space of Winton Recreation Ground, offering tennis courts, a childrens play park, childrens nature trails, small woodland area and cafe. Walking to Winton Rec, you will pass Stokewood Leisure Centre which has a public swimming pool and sauna. If you prefer a longer walk, Bournemouth town centre, upper and lower gardens and beaches are 20 -25 minutes away (5 minutes if you use one of the frequent buses from Charminster), or take the longer scenic route through the tree lined Meyrick Park, a very large public park ideal for picnics, to play ball games or watch one of the many music festivals held here. Cycling is permitted along the promenade, but it is subject to restrictions at certain times. Please check the notices on the signposts near the beach. Just a 20 minute walk is Bournemouth Interchange, from here you can access the railway station to travel to the New Forest, ideal for hiking, horse riding and cycling or catch one of the many buses to travel to the world renowned Purbecks, National Express also stop at Bournemouth Interchange.so within walking distance but also offers free parking too.
