There are gorgeous views of the sunrise over the sea. Morning kayaking or paddle boarding with glass like water is phenomenal. Kayaks and paddle boards included. There are venders on the beach nearby offering boat rides, fishing, horseback riding, and also seafood, tamales and other things. Bertha’s is a small market and cafe right across the street. They have very good fish tacos and chicken. The store has a few basic grocery items and beer. There are a few other small restaurants along the way headed north. We grocery shop in Loreto before we head out. We stop in Santa Rosalia if driving there from up north. Mulege is good for filling in.
We just finished a remodel of the kitchen. New Quartz stone countertops, lighting and appliances, including a 5 burner gas stove, dishwasher and stainless French door fridge. There is also a new sectional and chairs in the living area for your comfort. The covered veranda offers shade, and comfortable outdoor furnished sitting areas. There is a gas grill for your use.
There are four bedrooms, two of which are separate casitas with king beds we recently built. In the house, the mstr bedroom has is a king bed and bath. There is one queen bed in upstairs loft area with view of the sea (open to living area below), with privacy curtain.
The area where our house is located is off the grid. There is no cellular or power. We have a large solar system and back up generator. We include 3 free hours of fuel for the generator a day if you need it. Generally you won’t use more than that. To cover our costs it is $15 an hour for more than 3 hours usage of the generator per day. Generally the 3 hours will cover you.
We have Star Link Satellite and wifi phone service and television. We watch Netflix generally for a movie. It is our little bit of heaven on the Sea of Cortez. It is beautiful in the spring, fall and winter. It is very hot in the summer. You can fly in to Loreto , from there it is a 90 minute beautiful easy drive from Loreto. Head north along the coast to get there. You can rent a car in Loreto.
You can also drive down the Baja to get there. It is a 14 hour drive from San Diego. It is a beautiful drive through the desert landscapes. Our bay has beautiful protected glass like water, making it excellent for kayaking, paddle boarding, diving, fishing, snorkeling, sailing, swimming and just viewing. Sometimes the beautiful Whale Sharks are hanging out in our bay eating and lounging. You see porpoises and dolphins. Great for bird lovers, there are Orioles, Cardinals, several birds of prey including Osprey. There are many water foul birds including Great Blue Herons and Great White Egrets. We have a seafood vendor that stops by many mornings offering shrimp, fish, scallops and sometimes lobster! Also our tamale vendor stops by most mornings. There are hiking trails to the contiguous bays and canyons near by. You can kayak to the little island across the bay or around to the next cove. The island has secluded beaches and great snorkeling. There is a Sailing & Kayaking school and guided trips 2 doors down! There are cafes on the water and small store and cafe across the road. The cute small town of Mulegé is a 20 minute drive north where you can dine, shop and get groceries. Santa Rosalía is a beautiful 1 hour drive north. It is fun to take a drive up there and have lunch or shop.
We have a local fishing guide right on our beach. There is also a guide in nearby bay. Also in Mulege there are a couple of larger charter fishing boats.
