Experience the beauty of Northern Michigan at our 'Happy Place @ Lake Charlevoix', a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom vacation home located less than a mile from downtown Boyne City and the sandy shores of Lake Charlevoix. Featuring modern updated furnishings, Central Air, and a covered back deck with a brand new patio, fire pit, and luxurious 6-person hot tub, this is the perfect vacation getaway for families, empty nesters, and friends or family reunions. Swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, and shopping all within minutes! Less than 7 miles away from best-in-state skiing at Boyne Mountain for the winter enthusiasts and family-friendly swimming at Young State Park's beach on Lake Charlevoix.

Availability Update: we are now accepting weekly reservations for Spring and Summer of 2024! Typically 2-night minimums with discounted weekday pricing in the spring. Starting in late June, the house rents week-to-week, from Saturday to Saturday, until mid-August. Book now to schedule your trip to Lake Charlevoix!

Note: the hot tub is operational during the fall, winter, and spring (but not summer).

Our Happy Place - Boyne City
A very comfortable stay near Lake Charlevoix and surrounding sites! We really appreciated the location, the deck and hot tub and the cozy couch and were amazed at all the little touches, like all the spices available, the treats you provided, and the kitchen equipment. We really wished we could have had a fire in the beautiful firepit area - it is so cozy - but there was too much wind for as dry as it has been for the past several weeks. Thank you for the great communication and comfortable stay.

Perfect location, felt like home
It is hard to *not* feel right at home at the Happy Place! It had everything we needed and was very comfortable and one of the cleanest rentals we have ever stayed in. Perfect size for our family of five. Of note that we especially appreciated was the large kitchen garbage bin (most places we stay in are on the small side), tons of hooks in bedrooms/bathrooms to hang coats towels etc, comfortable beds, water bottles in the kitchen (came in handy when one of our kids realized she forgot hers at home), air purifiers in every bedroom (something we are used to at home and made for great white noise), plenty of plates/bowls/silverware, and all of the games. There is also ping pong, ladder ball, and a basketball game in the basement that was a nice surprise. The Happy Place felt private yet was a short drive to town/Boyne Mtn. We enjoyed snow tubing, cross country skiing, the Sky Bridge, Avalanche Bay, wine & cider tasting, and shopping in downtown Petoskey. This would be an awesome area to visit in the summer too. The only thing I might add to improve on the place would be blinds in the master bathroom. We would 100% return again!

Great location and space
Stayed for a week with my husband and teenage son, and the house was a perfect fit for the 3 of us. The couch and beds were comfy; the kitchen was a great size for cooking for the week. Appreciated the grill, games and back patio. Wonderful location - quick drives into the city or Young State Park. Chris was a responsive host.

Winter Weekend
Stayed for a nice 3 night winter weekend getaway. Perfect house for our family of 4. Plenty of games for the kids to play after getting back from Boyne Mountain. Didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub but a nice perk as well. Easy drive to the mountain while enjoying the restaurants and shops of Boyne city. Quick and friendly communication. Highly recommend.

Ideal “home away from home” for fall colors!
This inviting home is ideally located and only 20-25 minutes away from Charlevoix and Petosky, MI. The autumn colors were spectacular along the hills and landscape! When evening came, we snuggled in the comfortable sofa, had warm tea and enjoyed the time spent with great friends! This home can be a “home away from home”

An awesome house!
We felt very comfortable there. It was clean and beautifully decorated. We loved what we called the gathering room. It was huge. It was a great place for us to all hang out together. We could all fit on a large sectional and watch a movie The large kitchen and dining room were also in that open space. We could all sit there and eat together at the same time. It had a beautiful wood ceiling. We enjoyed playing vinyl records in there. The bedrooms and bathrooms worked out well for us. We had a new barbecue that was great to cook on. Our grandkids loved all of the toys. and books. It was definitely a great place to stay.

The perfect family vacation spot!
This property was easily the most accommodating rental home we’ve ever seen! We stayed with our 2 daughters along with my best and her husband and family. The hosts thought of EVERYTHING! Bikes for the whole family to ride, a huge toybox, games, lawn games,…it was just wonderful! So many personal touches that made our stay beyond comfortable, not to mention FUN! We’ll be back!

Snowy fun at the Happy Place
This was our second time staying at the Happy Place. It was like going “home.” My kids are 3.5 and 2 and love this place as much as I do. The host gave us lots of great ideas for toddler activities during the snowy season. If you enjoy sledding, don’t miss Avalanche Park and Pond Hill Farm. When we were too tired to go anywhere, we stayed in and watched movies, cooked good food, and enjoyed the fireplace. The hot tub was a HUGE hit. We played our music a little too loudly for the neighbor’s liking, though. (If you’re looking for a spot to host raging parties, I’d suggest you keep searching!) But, if you’re looking for a cozy spot in a quiet area that’s conveniently located, beautifully decorated (especially for the holidays), and hosted by great people, The Happy Place is it!

We really enjoyed our stay @The Happy Place. The house is lovely. It is comfy, well decorated and well stocked. We were pleasantly surprised to find baby toys, bath toys, plates and utensils for the little ones - not to mention a large amount of board games we took advantage of. It’s very close to Lake Charlevoix and downtown Boyne City - we also spent time at nearby Boyne Mountain and Avalanche Bay Waterpark. The hosts were very responsive and super helpful with recommendations. They also supplied us with a detailed welcome guide to the property that outlined house policies as well as available local activities. We really loved the property and hope to return!

Cozy beautiful home & all the little details made it perfect!
We've stayed in a bunch of rental properties over the last several years and this house has risen to the top of the list. The vibe is cozy and comfortable. The sheets & towels were high quality and comfortable (you definitely don't get this at most rentals)! The owners thought of all the little details to help you feel at home and provide comfort and ease...Hooks for coats/sweaters/towels, chargers by the bed, nightlights so you can find your way at night and my girls LOVED reading the book about the Petoskey stones. We even went on a treasure hunt to the beach and were thrilled to find some of these "special" stones. We truly can't wait to come back and stay here again. The location is great - quiet street and close to everything. It was nice to have access to the garage. You could simply tell that the owners care and genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. We can't wait to come back!

The Happy Place @ Lake Charlevoix will make you very HAPPY!
We had a fantastic family getaway at The Happy Place and loved everything about this vacation rental. The location is great - close to town, restaurants, and Lake Charlevoix, but located on a private road that is very quiet and peaceful. The house has the "Up North" feel that makes you immediately relax and slow down. The kitchen has everything you need, the bedrooms are spacious and have ample closet space, the mattresses are comfortable and the bathrooms are extremely clean and organized. The large sectional couch is cozy and inviting, especially after a long day of sightseeing. Ending the day with a soak in the hot tub was a highlight for all of us. Chris and Whitney are incredible hosts and have thought of everything, including a welcome gift waiting for us upon arrival that included Lake Charlevoix Coffee and Happy Place coasters! About a week before our trip, Chris sent a helpful welcome guide that included information on check-in, home access, parking, and Wi-Fi, along with fantastic suggestions for daily tips, activities, and restaurants. This was so helpful, especially when deciding where we wanted to go for dinner. We will be back to The Happy Place and are so thankful to Chris and Whitney for sharing this special place with us.
