IDEAL FOR COUPLES - Gite with private pool and spectacular views

x The house is a converted barn and granary divided into two apartments one
for the owners and one for the guests. The property is decorated to a high standard with breath taking views over the surrounding countryside. Sun loungers. garden table and chairs are provided for our guests comfort so you may spend the days relaxing around the pool, the courtyard or the grounds soaking up the peace and tranquillity. A BBQ is provided in the courtyard. The apartment has one large bedroom, a lounge/diner, kitchen, shower room and a lobby with doors opening up onto the courtyard and a few steps away from the pool. The pool is 10 x 4 meters and is private but shared with the owners on occasions. There are beautiful views from the pool which has a covered area should you wish to eat round the pool. Dining out and shopping is no problem as we are 5 mins drive from Brantome, the Venice of the Perigord which is a small market town surrounded by the gently flowing river
Dronne. On one side of the rive is the splendour of the magnificent 9th century abbey and the oldest bell tower in France. On the other side is a maze of narrow streets with a wealth of restaurants, bars and shops. A bustling market fills the town every Friday morning where you can purchase all kinds of, produce, clothes, jewellery, souvenirs. Activities include, canoe hire, boat trips, fishing, tennis, rock climbing, horse riding. There is a municipal golf course 20 mins away in Perigueux which is the capital town of the Dordogne. Perigueux is a bustling town which has music festivals, night markets, shopping, museums, art galleries as well as plenty of restaurants and bars. The pretty little town of Bourdeilles is approximately 15 mins away where there is a stunning chateau, restaurants and canoe hire. From St Crepin de Richemont you can travel south to visit the ancient towns of Sarlat, Montignac and Souillac and the river Dordogne. There are many caves to visit on the way also. Perigueux is the county town of the Dordogne and has markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Piegut has a large market on Wednesdays and the market in Brantome is every Friday. St Esteph boasts a pretty man made beach on the lake with pedloes, cafes etc. There are many lakes if you wish to fish. Locally there is rock climbing and horse riding. The apartment has central heating if required but this is subject to a separate charge. Normally this is not necessary during the season.

Relaxing stay near Brantôme
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay in this lovely gîte. Sandra and Alun gave us a very warm welcome and were very helpful on where to visit and recommendations on where to eat. The accommodation is very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing by and using the pool. We particularly enjoyed exploring Brantôme, Périgueux, Bourdeilles, the caves at Villars and the surrounding area. We highly recommend this gîte and would stay here again. Thank you Sandra and Alun

Brilliant Brantome
We have just spent three wonderful weeks at this location just outside Brantôme. Alun and Sandra are lovely people who are always at hand if required .The accommodation is well equiped in terms of fridge, freezer, cooker, comfortable bed and lounge. The pool and outside seating area was much appreciate. Once again thank you both for helping make our holiday truly memorable one.

The property was as advertised, comfortable, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful countryside. There were some charming towns and villages to visit within a short drive. The pool was well maintained and inviting and used only by us. Sandra and Alun were very friendly and helpful.

We had 2 weeks in this very comfortable Gite. The location was quiet & peaceful. Fully lived up to the description on line. Very nice friendly owners, who made us very welcome. Beautiful views, lovely pool. Nothing negative to say about it.

Classic French with a pool in quiet location
Stayed for 2 weeks in this lovely apartment- part of a classic French property with a garden and private pool. Although secluded the property is less than 10 minutes drive to Brantome with its many good restaurants and market. Some fine walks in the local area as well. Our hosts, Sandra and Alun, were very helpful about places to visit and great company over a glass or two of wine. We cannot recommend this property or location highly enough.

Nice little quiet place to stay
Nicely secluded spot to spend a week or so. Sandra and Alun were always ready to help where required but did respect our privacy. The weather was not the warmest (average 22-23 degrees) but still had a great time. The week before was apparently late 30-40 degrees which would have been a struggle due to lack of air-conditioning.

A fantastic little gite in an ideal location where hosts Sandra and Alun couldn't do enough for us. Only a short distance from Brantome where you'll find a collection of bars and restaurants set upon the riverside. The pool is amazing with stunning views, what a find - thankyou.

Lovely - Relaxing Stay

A SUPERB GITE IN A WONDERFUL LOCATION
We really enjoyed our stay. The Gite itself is very comfortable with an extensive kitchen and large bedroom and lounge. It is well furnished and there is a large modern shower room and toilet. The swimming pool,patio and outside eating areas are really good.The location is superb with nearly 360d far reaching views across fields and woods.Our hosts Sandra and Alan were attentive and pleasant company when we met them from time to time.

With the thermometer nudging forty degrees the pool was delightful. So much so that we hardly ever left this lovely property and even stayed for a few extra days. Would highly recommend this gite. Alun and Sandra were good hosts, unobtrusive but friendly and helpful. Five stars all round.

Probably the nicest pool and views I've ever enjoyed
Spent 6 nights and 5 days here in August 2019. Alun and Sandra are an absolutely lovely couple, very helpful and knowledgeable and great company for drinks too on the couple of nights they joined us sat outside. Nothing was a problem for them. The property is in a stunning countryside hilltop location with magnificent views. I wouldn't hesitate to come back again. Couldn't have been better.

A real gem. The area is lovely. The owners are very helpful and easy to talk to. The pool is great. We don't want to say too much as it may be booked up when we next wish to go.

Lovely gite, lovely location and lovely hosts!
We had a wonderful 2 weeks here. It was all we could have asked for. The gite itself was clean, very tastefully decorated and had everything we needed. The pool area was well maintained and very relaxing. Alun and Sandra are great hosts and were there if we needed anything. We found them very easy to chat to and very relaxed. The location of the gite is rural but within a very short driving distance of Brantome, which is a very pretty, lovely town where you can find many restaurants and cafes. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Lovely gite in a beautiful location
This is a beautiful gite in a stunning location on the edge of the Limousine- Perigord National park. It’s the ground floor of an old house & has been renovated to a high standard but still retains a real french feel. It has a wonderful pool area which overlooks fields and is so quiet and peaceful. It’s only 5 minutes drive from Brantome & easy drive to lots of interesting places in the area. The owners live on site and are always happy to help if you need them but otherwise keep a low profile & let you get on with your holiday. It’s a really relaxing retreat - we spent 9 days there & would love to go again.

A little disappointing
We were a bit disappointed with this apartment. Although much of it is very nice and it looked lovely in the photos and description, the reality didn’t quite live up to them. The apartment is in the basement and has two very large rooms joined by a hallway across the front into which a very narrow kitchen has been squeezed. The lounge and bedroom which are well furnished, each have one small window and a curtained glass door onto the hallway which means that they get little natural light so are rather dark. Unfortunately the poor ventilation makes the place rather stuffy and hot at times and with no screens the windows at ground level let in mosquitoes at night. There aren’t any proper units in the kitchen, just an old cupboard and two bench units with everything on open shelves exposed to the flies. The fridge is in an alcove at the far end. The good sized bathroom is at the other end with a big shower. Nice big fluffy towels are provided and also pool towels if you ask. The outdoor area is delightful with a big sunny patio and a lovely shaded gazebo by the beautiful pool. However it would be good to make it clear where the guests are supposed to sit. You indicated we could use the pool area and gazebo. Yet, when we were about to have lunch in the gazebo on a hot day, you made us feel so uncomfortable about wanting it for your friends that we felt obliged to move. There are several small things that would make the apartment more comfortable. For instance, putting cushions on the dining chairs that fit and don’t hang off the edge. Echoing a previous reviewer (which doesn’t seem to have been taken on board) we too would have liked a few proper utensils to cook with. We were looking forward to doing our laundry but weren’t allowed access to the washing machine and had to ask Sandra to do it for us which wasn’t as convenient. This place could be really great with the investment of a bit of money and attention. As it is though, we wouldn’t choose to stay there again.

Stunning location fabulous pool great hosts
Alun and Sandra are excellent hosts being very friendly accommodating and helpful nothing being too much trouble. The situation of the property is ideal near to Brantome yet in a very quiet area with the most stunning far reaching countryside views. The pool and surround is spectacular and well equipped and maintained by Alun which unfortunately we could not make too much use of due to inclement weather. The patio area was good with a large bbq and comfy seating and the gite itself did its job and was good value for the price charged.

Enjoyed our stay with you both The one thing I would say was would have liked a ladle to get food out of saucepans a flat slice to get things out of frying pan instead of spoons and also a normal butter knife to spread butter with Minor things but would make life easier You also talked about putting a slow cooker in, feel that would be a great benefit These points did not detract from our holiday Thanks for supplying such great weather!!! The pool was a definite bonus and hopefully when we return the hot tub will be in action Season well and thanks again

A fantastic time
The accommodation here is great, and Sandra and Alun are fantastic hosts. Despite not having the best weather, we had the best of holidays ! The position of the accommodation is really good too, with Brantome itself being a beautiful place, with many areas to visit roundabouts. An excellent gite for a couple
The accommodation was clean and comfortable and adequately equipped. The pool was great and excellently maintained by the owner. The area was beautiful and 4 miles away is Brantone, which is a lovely French town full of historic buildings and shops and cafes. There is an Aldi in the town good for all daily food purchases for self catering. There are plenty of good restaurants for eating out. In the gite there was also a useful selection of brochures and maps for day trips. We had a great time with the owners Alun & Sandra A car is essential in order to take advantage of the local attractions which are many.

Lovely gite, spotlessly clean and wonderful hosts
My partner and I had a wonderful two week stay at Les Hirondelles. The gite owners Sandra and Alun were the perfect hosts and were always on hand to ask questions and make recommendations of places to visit. The gite itself was immaculately presented, clean (including the BBQ) and spacious with plenty of room for two people and lots of storage space in the bedroom. The outside was delightful with potted plants to brighten patio area before wandering through a leafy archway to a pool and sitting area that I can only describe as perfect. The pool is very inviting and kept to a high standard by Alun. For us the gite was perfect the only downside was that we only had two weeks there and will definitely visit again in the future. There is a saying that ' come as guests and leave as friends' and this we certainly felt was true at Les Hirondelles.

A Perfect Get Away for any Couple in a Stunning Location!
The gite is clean, homely and very comfortable with everything that you need. Situated in an idyllic location it is the perfect location for any couple to escape and enjoy the French Culture. Both Sandra and Alan were very welcoming and could not do enough for us! Great Pool area which we enjoyed thoroughly. Being only 5 minutes away from Brantome it is the perfect balance of a french retreat to the countryside and the hustle and bustle of the french markets. We could not recommend highly enough! :)

Hôtes tres agreables
Le logement est vaste mais bas de plafond 1.90 la piscine est à l'usage exclusif des locataires avec une superbe vue. Les proprietaires sont charmants nous invitant accueillir les pêches du jardin le raisin cherchant toujours à faire plaisir. Sandra la propriétaire vient même changer le linge à la moitié du séjour la laverie de leur maison est accessible aux locataires seul problème est que le logement sent l'humidité. La piscine le jardin et le calme restent les atouts majeurs.
